2007 truck. has 260k miles on it, and a phone book of records from the lexus dealership. am I an idiot to think this is a good idea?

Also, this would be my second LC. both with high miles... I got the bug bad.

My wife takes our 98 all over the place. It only has 210k miles on it but I keep the fluids and tire pressure topped off and don't worry too much.

AAA premiere is a must though. Funny how I seemed to only use it with my last 2 Ford diesels and my inlaws jeep though. :hillbilly:

Absolutely

Hell No! I'd drive them both! Tell her to find her own!

If I'm confident enough to put my kid in one, I'd have no problem putting my wife in one, as long is was in good shape, and up to date on maintenance. I agree with the AAA card though.

Same here, my wife (and my son) dd is 98 LC ~214K miles. No worries.

I once had my wife and three kiddos in a 165k mile suburban. Now they're in a 120k mile Sienna.

260k 100 series...any day at my house!

That is a lot of miles, but with the Land Cruiser it's really not a big deal. Especially if you got a AAA account. I just recently bought a new used Land Cruiser for my wife, along with the AAA Premiere. I sleep just fine.

222k on my 99LC that I use for work. I have a 3 state territory covering 2k miles a month. Just keep an eye on common failure prone parts like the heater Ts.

My wife drives a 18 year old 165k mile LX all over the place. I drive a 19 year old 340k 4Runner all over the place.

Replace heater T's, thermostat and drive it all you want.

im digging it. we take 350 mile trips fairly often. Just want to make sure I'm not crazy!

It probably depends on your wife.

This past week, my '98 with 250k had no power when I walked out of work. Corrosion and a loose battery connection were preventing everything, even the wireless door locks, from operating. It only took a little jiggle and I was back on the road, but my wife would've been "stranded." It was about 95 degrees out and she usually has our 1-year-old with her.

If your wife is mechanically inclined or wants a LC so bad that she'll overlook the occasional inconvenience, then go for it. If she travels long distances by herself, with children, at night, and/or in extreme weather, then get her a Camry with under 50K.

Most things discussed in these threads are preventive. Battery cables, heater T. I'll add that starter and alternator could also be replaced preventatively if you have no record of their replacement when buying a new to you truck. Go one further and replace the ignition inner shaft and you basically are bulletproof.

Our land cruiser is my wife's daily driver and we take it all over death valley exploring gold mines and secluded camping spots.

I want another one also, an LX. I'll do the same preventive maintenance and keep a watchful eye. A watchful eye is needed on any car, 5 miles or 500k miles.

We had a 2007 suburban with 120k miles. it was a dumpster fire. Im confident that religious service on a 100 will make these trucks see 500k plus miles.

oh, and I did the math... 260k miles at 10 mpg equals 26,000 gallons of fuel!!! Ill be a 2x 100 owner... should def buy oil stock today.
