Q: Would you buy this '79 L/C for $3500?

A: No. No reason you should, either.

Looks like he's done enough to con a potential buyer into buying it. It has a lot of left over parts and a lot rust in different places. Who ever buys will have to take it apart and see what condition it's really in. Frame really looks bad, I can just imaging how it looks between the rails. I hope I don't offened anyone, but I would stay away from this one.:)

If it runs really, really well I might pay 2000 tops.
Yeah if it had and amazing drive train and power plant it might be worth $2500 to $3000. But by the looks of the frame and under carriage I would say it needs a lot of work and money. I personally wouldn't pay more than $2000just by the looks of the pictures. I would rather fly to a "non rust" state and drive a cruiser home.

Given the condition, i think 3500 is too much to start with. if you plan to restore it, try to keep the initial payment as low as possible.

im sure there's a lot more hidden rust to discover. even if you were told that the mechanics are great, it's been sitting still for a long time, some parts are bound to fail.

The one i bought for 3200 was slightly in better condition (at least frame wasnt rusted), and still i've always had a regret on paying that much, but im in a different market...

whatever you choose, keep us posted and good luck
