Got some more cleaning done in the last two weekends, and was bored with that, so I ripped out my drivers side rocker pannel.
If you follow here and don't go to the 70s section, here were my problems with it:

and here are a few pics of what it looks like now.

how you going to attach the new rocker, spot weld?

Drill holes and weld in the holes, essentually spot weld.

can you paint em weld on both sides , or just tac'er on and hope for the best, I always weld the sh*t out of every thing, then it starts rusting

so hows the progress

Looks good Deny, sorry I did;t get back to you about the A/C hoses, they are drain hoses - you need to leave them in or you will fill your truck with condensate!.

Louis

Yeah thanks Louis, that's what I figured.

Update, things have been going slow, no real progress to take pictures of, I cleaned airconditioning unit, cleaned more underneath, and measured up the metal I need to buy so I can build some kind of stand that ties into the gas tank mounts so I can clean up the body mounts and the back side of the rocker panels.

Cheers,
Deny

Man what a slow go! Anyway did a little more this weekend, decided that I should get the underneath rear corners done before I build the other mounting system using the fuel tank mounts which will limit room to clean these areas up, and then started ripping off the passanger side rocker, which is crushed a little and I will have to cut and weld in a new part of the inner rocker as well as the outer.
Cheers,
Deny

funny how some parts of the cab look like day one and others...not so much.
Looks like it's coming along nicely though.

I rigged up a much better intake out of a 1.6TD VW intake today, and in the next week i'm installing my air to air:)
I'll have to show ya if you're around the first weekend of april! (that means i'm comin up there)

Yeah it is weird, just trying to make everything look like day one and stay that way for a really long time;)

Yup for sure, very interested to see what you come up with, will be around until may long when I hope to streach the 42's legs.

Cheers,
Deny

Well did a bit of work over the long weekend, had to build a contraption to hold up the body while I fix up the body mounts and the rocker panels. is a little sketch, but pretty solid. I also bought a few extra peices to build a swing out tire carrier for my 42, will post more on that on my other endless thread. I think I need to hire a skilled mexican just to finish all my projects for me:hillbilly:

Just found this thread. Cool build. Amazing how much time a project like this can take up. Will be sweet ride when your done. Why is it a shop is never big enough for the project on hand?

Thanks, I hear you on shop size, I don't think there is ever a shop big enough!

Whoo hoo!! Progress. Looking great.

Well, got my frame and a few parts back from sandblasting. Painted half the frame, then it started to rain, covered it up with a tarp, but next morning, was slight rusts on the fresh sandblasted metal. Took me 3 hours of wirewheeling it to shine it up and paint it. Saturday I covered it up with a tarp, and good thing cause we keep getting rain, like we live in Vancouver or something. Anyway the whole thing is primed, covered the primer with another red primer coat to make sure I got everything, thats how it sits now.
here are a few pics:

Nice, what are you using as a top coat? Any plans to coat the inside of the frame? BTW it's in the high 20's aned nothing but sunshine in Vancouver :flipoff2:.
