wow! I'm suprised there was any decent metal in old 'Eduardo'. Well, glad you're putting it to good use. You'll be dismayed to hear I've parked my cruiser for the winter. I've gotta do front and rear seals, side lifter cover and fix some floorboards. Picked myself up an 86 jetta TD that I rebuilt the motor and did a bunch of other stuff to. Still looks like poo though. My friend calls it the Chastity-moblie. No self-respecting girl will come near this heap, but the 900kms/45L cheers me up!

Nice, my parents just bought a VW golf as their second vehicle too. Yes looks like your old "edwardo" will also donate his fuel tank and the holders that the head lights sit in to the work truck. There also may be a windshield in the future as well, plus a bunch of other miscilanious stuff. (not to mention the hood and grill to my dads truck and the 4.11s to Jims truck if he ever gets around to it;) Thanks again

Well after a bunch of slacking, christmas party, hockey, drinking, and a bunch more slacking, I got around to do a little painting under the cab, will put one more coat than undercoat with that tar crap.
Cheers,

looks good, you get the wood stove going to bake the tremclad on? How long it take to do a coat?

Yup had the wood stove cooking pretty good. I don't know how long, I wasn't timing, but I would say around an hour or two? Will have to put another coat on there for sure, looks like some of the creases didn't get quite the coverage I hoped for, I think I might spray bomb all the cracks then give another roll.

Put another coat on tonight, but I noticed that the creases did get good coverage, just the light reflecting from a few areas, but there is a good thick coat now (plus I spraybombed the creases before rolling this time). I think I might put one more coat on though, but white this time, just so that when I spray the undercoating on, I will know I covered everything. A little anal I know, but it will make me sleep better at night.

Did a little on the truck this weekend. Sorta sucks doing this painting, then waiting for it to dry, but hopefully as I start puting it together and making more room in the shop, I can start more multitasking. Also threw in a picture of cleaning up the body mounts, just to show that I am doing more than my pictures show, there is so much little crap I got to do, but don't really take pictures of, just so you all don't think I am slacking all the time.
Cheers,

your painting the body with tremclad too...didn't you have proplem with that reacting with "regular" paint before

I think I should be OK if I use plenty of primer. And I think a big thing is to let the primer dry for atleast a day before spraying over top of it.
Now I will seam seal all the joints and then put another coat of tremclad on before I undercoat.

Did you already bondo up the rocker?

Are you doing the top coat paint your self or getting it proffesionaly done?

Yeah I threw on a little bondo. Yeah I think I will spray it my self, there really isn't a lot of body to paint.

Spray Cans?

Dude, your in the next cubical! you know you can ask me directly right. I don't know if I will spray bomb or not, but I am leaning towards it.
