all my wood grain dash crap is coming off. Any suggestions on replacement?

good vendors?

labor?

thx.

Aaron

It should peel right off with a heat gun and a little elbow grease. You might also need something to get under the wood sticker to pry it off, just be careful so you don't scratch the panel/vent/etc...

thx.

been looking on ebay .. but does wondering if anyone that has done this.. what vendor they used to get parts.

I would take it off and not replace it with anything, it looks much better without the fake wood.

I agree with the removal and not replacing

ok.. if the rain holds up this weekend i will grab a heat gun and remove it all and do some before and after pics and decide how much i like it without...

thanks.

I had a heat gun but I only had to use it to start about 5% of the work. Most of the wood stickers just peeled right off without using the heat gun - for what it is worth my 100 has spent its entire life in Texas. As for the condition of the stickers when I removed them they were not coming off like Abewley's. I just don't like fake wood in vehicles.

I think the LC looks 100% better with out the wood gain stuff, glad mine had it already removed.

Do not use a heat gun. Turn the heat on in your vehicle on high for 20 minutes. It will just peel off.

Mine didn;t. It took lots of heat, goof off, etc. Be careful on the console, my console is made from a painted plastic polymer. The paint peel off when removing the sticky tape. I had to wet sand and repaint.

Remove and through away. It is beyond me why people would want that wood grain in the first place, much less replace it again later down the road.

It's worked on 5 trucks I know of, including my own. You must have had super glue.

thx for all the info.

You should be able to lift it with your finger nails. The window control plastic is pretty tough stuff.

One question, does anyone recall what surface is underneath the fake wood surface for the radio and HVAC controls? Also, what about the trim surrounf rear vent controls? I still need to remove fake wood in these areas. I don't want to remove if it's a painted surface.

Just black plastic on mine.

DO you know if it is painted black? My cup holder was black plastic. The tranny shifter surround was grey polymer painted black.

i have only started pealing the center floor console so far, only black plastic. i expect the same on the dash, but grey plastic on the vents and door pieces.

i think some climates are better than others. i plan to do the majority of the peeling in Reno late July, ~100 F outside, maybe 140+ inside?! so far i am guessing no heat gun will be required at that time as i have already removed the easy (decayed) stuff in spring temps ~80 inside.

be careful with any tool (eg screw driver), it will scratch the black plastic. i did that over a small bit, too many scratches. i will finish the job mano a mano, or possibly use a plastic wall compound tool.
