I have a panel that I made up to be a back seat for my uncles car.

I made it out of 1/4 baltic birch plywood and it turns down at about 80 degree angle, so I fiberglassed the gap and then bondo'd it flat.

I would like it to be orange color, but trying how best to protect it. I was thinking about doing a brush coat of fiberglass resin over the entire thing, but how do I get the color?

Thoughts?

I would just sand the final product and paint it. I used to build custom surfboards and would use an acrylic color on the foam blank and then cover that with a layer of glass and resin. you might try a little sample patch of each and see what you like, but I think a final coat of paint would be best in your case. So, does the area that is raw fiberglass currently, will take paint ok? Can I use rattle can paint?

I'm in no way an expert on this subject, but I would give the rattle can a shot. I have painted raw fiberglass with it with good results. I would probably lay down a coat of spray can auto primer first. Post up a pic of what you got.
