Heather has always enjoyed getting off road, but she was never a fan of the FJC, would not drive it off road or on. Enter the 80, she loves this truck.

I put a newer set of BFG ATs on the 95 on Friday and Heather loves them. She drives the 80 every chance she gets. She wants to wheel it too. She calls it her tank that can go anywhere.

How about you guys, any of your wives or GFs liking the 80? Heather pretty much has claimed the 95.

As you know mine has her own 80. SHe also drove the 40 for the first time offroad this last week and now she wants to drive it off road more often. I am going to send her to Scott's offroad class next year.

I've repeated my story before, but here it is again... Sarah's first time driving off road was in the 40. Shortly after happily giving me back the keys, Eric Rymer let her her drive his 80. Maybe 5 minutes later she stuck her head out the window and yelled to me to start shopping for one.

She'd drive it more often but has to get to work too early to find a parking spot that's tall enough in the deck. So, of course, for good measure I bolted on a roof rack!

I've not heard that story before John. Heather has wanted one since we saw one walk a tough rocky climb at Coal Creek years ago. I can say that I too like the 80. Lots of work ahead of me but not a complaint.

Heather is going to handle the interior replacement, body and paint end of it along with parts supply. I get to do the rest :) I am looking forward to it. Heather was asking me if the locking hubs would be as stiff as the old Ford hubs, sure hope not :)

no e-lockers stan?

Ashley absolutely loves driving the 80. She uses the 100 as her dd and about once a week she says she treats herself by driving the 80 to work. Not many middle school teachers rolling up tp the school in a lifted 80 on 35's. she was teacher of the year at her school last year and I can only imagine how cool it looked parked in her "teacher of the year" parking spot at the front of the school. :hillbilly:

The 95 has E lockers, I am replacing the stock AWD T-case with a split case out of a 60 series and also adding manual hubs. This will make the 80 2WD/4WD rather than AWD.

Heather started her off road experience with the 80 yesterday here on the farm. She was amazed what it would do in just low range. I think that I have created a monster :)

Emma still talks about missing hers from time to time, but I think she liked the way it looked more that actually driving it. The GX470 has her spoiled now for sure.

Heather loves the 80, however doesn't like having to open the swingouts when she needs to load stuff in the back.

But, she's driven the 40 into work a few times since the carb was rebuilt. She loves it more and more. Can't wait to get the 55 up and running and see which she likes more.

These will solve that problem Brian, he has them for the 80 too

I believe they prop open with the cylinder, double latches. We like them just for the idea of what Brian mentioned above. Rather than having to open a swing out then a window and a gate you can open one side window and have the things you need most at arms reach.

They are not cheap at $1,430.00 but seem to be very well built and make a lot of sense. I think a shelf built in the rear wouold be perfect for having things like a first aid kit at hand.

Wagon Gear makes them. A locking handle replaces the side marker light, two latches on each window

How does it lock? That is pretty interesting. Who makes it?

handle on the inside ..... wagon gear makes them but they are pricey $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

EDIT: Stan beat me to it.... that will teach me not to refresh the page

Handle is on the OUTSIDE. The marker light is removed and the handle goes back in it's place.

I think they are expensive but woth the price. Everything I have seen from Wagon Gear is top notch.
