Yikes, ECCPP coils? Never heard of a good ending with those.

well I think I know why...

First of all, heartbroken to hear about your missus - wishing her speedy recovery and long happy life.

Removed the radiator to replace and removed the thermostat and lower housing. But I’m at a cross road. This truck has a new timing belt put in 25k ago. But I’m like 75% of the way to just saying f it and doing it but I’m really not feeling it. I’m REALLY on the fence of doing the timing belt pre-empitively.

Don't tear in to the timing belt if you trust the last person who did the job. You have another 70k miles left, save your coin and sweat. But it is a good time to replace the fan bracket if it wasn't replaced before.

well I think I know why...

Several forum members here (myself included) are very happy with YEC Flamma IGC107F ignition coils. They are legit made in Japan, have been around for quite a while and work like a champion.

100 Series Shop Truck PM

This is what has been done so far. Nothing totally nuts but I did need to get rid of some CELs and wanted it road worthy for some long trips coming up.

* Denso Radiator brand new and radiator cap
* Replaced all radiator hoses and clamps
* OEM new water outlet (16321-0F010)
* Entire water outlet housing (16032-50110) no need to do the 3min silicone thing, comes with a gasket already to go
* Used distilled and Toyota RED
* Replaced thermostat and new OEM thermostat housing
* Vacuum hoses have ALL been replaced with new OEM
* OEM PCV valve and hose kit installed
* OEM Air filter
* New Toyota spark plugs (90919-01210)
* New Ignition coils (Denso 673-1303) but I decided to try out the cheap set>>>
- OEM (90919-02230) about $90
* Hood lift LH (534500-69025) $90
* Hood Lift RH (53440-69025) $90
* Radiator shroud cracked so went new OEM 16711-50090
* Replace entire cooling system with new hoses and clamps
• Oil change using Toyota filter

All new bits. I probably could have reused the old housings but I already pre-ordered them so screw it. The plastic skid plate had a broken mount. Not sure if I'm going to bother replacing it with steel.

Truck is running PERFECTLY fine now. Zero issues. I'll do a couple of cosmetic pieces on the interior that are just ugly and then do a quick and dirty lift and new tires to get ready for the snow here in Oregon.

Don't mean to revive an old thread, but how are those ignition coils holding up? Seems like at least 1 was defective from the picture. I had a 99 follow me home a few months ago and I fixed the most pressing things but now I'm getting ready to really baseline it and put it to work. Thanks for all the tips in this thread!

How's that attic rack coming along? :D

Been wanting brackets for my 2000 but they seem to be unobtainium. Not a fan of the soft blueridge style
I've been looking for brackets for a solid attic rack like you can find for an 80 or 200. I think someone could sell a bunch of attic rack brackets.

Doing totally fine to be honest. I have the old coils in a bag in the back as spares since only one was bad.

This was awhile ago but I haven't had the opportunity to post til recently. The starter had decided it wanted to die. Mere weeks after taking the engine bay half apart. It was a distraction I didn't need. Thankfully my little brother jumped at the opportunity to climb under the hood again.

Typically the starter job just needs the intake manifold gaskets and the throttle body gasket, plus of course the starter. Ordered all three from Toyota and let my brother loose on it. Day one was three hours for him to take the intake off. Day two was two hours to get the starter out. Day three was however many hours it took to put it all back. In removing the intake he managed to break off both water temp sensors off the front of the black under the throttle body. Luckily they were too spendy.

Looking good Joey and seems like that is how things always go. You get everything apart and then the ONE thing you were like "Nah its good" and didn't replace decides to go that is like 3/4 the way into the job you were doing.

Glad to hear your lady is doing better. Good juju and prayers for you guys!
