Hey guys, I need a little help with wiring. I ordered some LED lights that fit in the reflector slots on the bumper. I got the idea from a thread here and now I can't seem to find it.

So, 4 wires. I was planning on pulling my tail light and tapping into the power and ground there.

What are the other 2 wires for?

Thanks!

If your only wanting them as back up lights than just use the 2 wires needed. Use your battery or a drill battery to find which wires light them up.
Depending on the year of your LC you may have a 7 pin trailer plug (02 and up I believe) if I remember right there is a wire in the trailer harness for backup lights, this would be the easiest place to tie into.

Yeah I'd say they are probably just an additional circuit for a turn signal or parking light.

This is a great idea though for any extra lighting. I'm surprised more companies haven't jumped on this.

Let us know how bright they are.

@benc nailed it, use a battery to test each wire and find out what they do. @TheForger posted a link to one style that includes a set of red LEDs for additional brake lights.

Thanks guys!

Benc - thats a great idea, I was thinking I was going to have to tap into the harness itself up in the body.

I'll post pictures as soon as I get them mounted.

Any luck with getting these lights wired up? I'd be interested in getting a set if they work out for you. Thanks!

I just purchased the same lights. I was going to tap into the wires at the tail lights. Does anyone have the wiring diagram from a 1999 LC service manual for the tail lights? It looks like the black wire goes to the brake negative, green to the tail light positive, red to the brake light positive and white to the backup lights. I was just wondering which wires I needed to tap into... Thanks!

I ordered them from Ebay. I think I figured out the colors but ran out of time trying to find the best way to tap into the harness. I think the green goes to the green on the tail light and the black wire goes to the white w/black stripe. I wanna wire into the taillights, but it may take some work to get the wires in there so I may just try the trailer wiring... I don't know yet...

I've been watching some of the eBay ones,
I like the ones that some to be 30% parking lights then 100% as brake lights.

I might bite the bullet and try some. When I removed my trailer wiring I traced and saw where the installer tapped into the left rear tail light.

If its a Lexus the back up lights are in the tailgate
Reading the ebay auction each light has 1 set of white LEDs and one set of red LED. With that said 2 wire will be for red and 2 wires for white. If not diagram start touch wires to a 12 volt source:hillbilly: until you get light.
edit -
  • Connect black / blue wire to brake light negative, green wire to tail light positive and red wire to brake light positive and white wire to backup light; It works at ~12V

I got them hooked up tonight. The best way I could determine to hook them up without extending all the wires on the lights was to drill a small hole in the body under the tail lights behind the bumper and route them up there. The black wire went to the white w/black stripe on the brake light. The green wire went to the tail light positive which was green too. The red wire went to the brake light positive which was green w/ white stripe. The white wire went to the backup light positive which was red w/stripe. I've gotta seal the hole that I drilled and tidy it up a bit still. The back up light output isn't too impressive but it is a good utilization for the old reflectors. I'll try to post some pics of the lights later.

Did you ever get any pics of these?

Sorry! I didn’t! I was disappointed with the light output and the lenses have yellowed over time but they are a good replacement for the stock reflectors. If you still want some pics I’ll try to get some later. I did add a pair of 6.5” led backup lights to the tow bar and they put out a lot of light!

Thanks guys for the feedback and suggestion. Think those will fit in existing reflector hole? @bamabrock
