What chemistry house batteries are you planning on using? ACR won’t work if you have 2 different chemistries between banks.

Oh? I had not heard that. But probably all AGMs 2 starting and 2 house.

Nevermind, I did not have any luck with the isolators.

FWIW those Sure Power isolators that prevent current flow the other way also prevent the alt from kicking on.
I don't know what you mean.

From what I know:

Using the ML-ACR is connects the 2 batteries and for best results the batteries need to be the same. That is not mixing type deep cell or lithium.

The blue Isolators, used frequently on older boats as it is a older method charges the lower voltage bank at all times. Can be good and bad. Bad when one battery goes bad then it will not charge the good battery as all voltage goes to the low voltage bad battery. Good when all batteries are good and one it not hogging the power.

The best method is to use a lithium battery and these are cheep now, and use a dc to dc charger to charge it. Lithium batteries charge up in a fraction of the time an AGM or wet deep cell will take PLUS you can run them down to low voltage without killing the battery.

Mixing lithium and a charging system you must put a dc to dc between them, a ML-ACR or isolator will not work as the lithium can request too much amps.
That is the aux battery trying to pull too many amps from the charging system and burning out the alternator.
