Old style wipers (top of the windshield). They work but only go halfway then sounds like the motor just spins, if you push them a bit with your hand they catch and do another revolution. Anyone know if there is a rebuild place or supplier? If not what's the best option for getting it fixed/replaced?

Thanks

Open them up yourself and see if you can spot the problem. It's only a couple of screws and nothing scary inside. Nothing will come springing out and they go back together really easily. I'd suggest cleaning out the old grease and adding some new. Mine were pretty stiff with the 40+ year old grease having become the consistency of soft wax. They are built pretty stout inside and there's a good chance you can fix the problem yourself.

Real easy to take apart. If you find anything broken snap a pic and post up.
Somebody will have a replacement part for you.

Are these separate wipers or connected by the cable?
If by cable, then that could be the problem. I'm working on one now that was rusted inside.

They do have the cable. Will tear them down the next few days and post up if I don't see anything out of the ordinary.

Thanks h8mudders.

theres a screw on the outside that has a nut to lock it down...i remember needing to adjust that as mine was slipping one day...just a mater of losening the nut...and turning in the screw and locking it back down.

may be what you got going on...if not...it's internal...need to see it then :)

I just did this. I found out my gear was slipping. There appears to be no rebuild kit so finding a spare is a good idea. You can adjust the bolt at the end to see if it will cure it. It seemed to work for me. While you have it apart, you should check all the linkages and regrease where you can. The grease in the motor and the arms will harden and cause stiff action, which will lead to your motor working harder than it needs to and stripping your gears.

Good luck! ty

I may have a spare part if you need it.
