Quick question, got a guy in Cambridge Ontario looking for a windshield for a 78 series. Anybody got any leads? I did a search and came up with nothing. Thanks.

I do believe that the 7* jdm share the same windshields that were sold here in Canada (bj70). So you should be able to source one directly from a Toyota dealership, be sure to order one for a hard top, I guess there is a difference. Mind you this was for a LJ78 when I got this info. I'd double check my BS before acting.

Toyota quoted me $ 350.0 , and a local importer quotes a round $500.0 , and when I got my truck out of the shop (insurance job where I gave these two options to the shop) I.C.B.C. was charged $600.0 for the windshield from the importer. Gotta love selective pricing!;)

Do a search on Mud and you should be able to find out about the dealership route.

78 was never a fold down, the 78 is the same as the NA BJ70, toyota is the way to go. shipping glass across Canada is a risky business and most companies have no insurance on glass.

Will the 70 glass fit the 77 I was thinking of bringing one in but did not think about the glass replacement, the 40 series amd 60 series are no problem since they are a dime a dozen.

There is only 2 windshields for the 7* series ,fold down frame and fixed frame. So yes,the 70 will fit a 77.

Try Apple Auto Glass, I'm in Ottawa Ontario, I inquired for a 85 bj70 with the Apple guy we use for our other trucks. His computer showed a listing in a Montreal warehouse for a '85 2 door Landcruiser and a 4door Landcruiser and that's how the listing called it, it didn't have a specific landcruiser model attached to it. Going by memory but re and re was about $600 +/-. hope this helps

I had a mobile glazier out to my place yesterday to fit a new windscreen into my 75 and repair 2 chips in the 73 series windscreen.
He brought the wrong windscreen,it was for a BJ70/LJ70 as the sticker said.
I was surprised how much bigger they were than the w/screen in hinged type frame, must be 50mm in height

when you jump in ya 75 pretty much make the bottom rail of the window frame glass
i read once about 79 series that when they had the featers they said a wider cab than 75's so i presume its wider from the top of the doors up which would make the 70 75 troopy and 79 ute front window wider than 75 ute?

I remember reading something like that myself but I think the journos who write those stories cocked it up.
Itss length of the cab that is different.

roof height, length is different.
and of course the later 79 series has a wider front frame to go with the wider front clip.

Got my new frame and glass in the other day. Im so glad to be rid of the huge cracks and the rust;)

Where you get the new frame from and how much?

I've been watching the local wreckers and they all need repair. Staying away from fiberglass this time.

I got mine from here 4WD Parts eBay Store About My Store but I went and bought it over the counter for $650 about a year ago.Im slack and just got around to putting it on.I think they are over $700 now. I also got a drivers door for $2K

Have you tried here ? 4WD Wreckers - East Coast 4WD Spare Parts

I cant see a frame in their catalog, but they do have shipments of them come in from time to time.

If you get stuck Ill see if I can a get a price on one here. I know someone who does cheap east west freight;)

What's the problem with fiberglass? I fitted mine up to check it was a good fit and fit well. Are there structural issues like it's not as strong as the metal frame? My rusty metal one is leaking real bad now after pulling it out and putting it back in. It rained last week and my right foot got wet:D

Cheers,
Gav.
