I'm not impressed with the factory wipers (efficacy or longevity) and will be replacing them. The carriers/frame are fine, and I'd prefer to keep those and simply replace the rubber if possible with aftermarket.

Any recommendations?

I don't think there is anything better than the factory setup that comes on them. You can replace the rubber part of the blades if they are just getting worn out. That's what I do.

You could try one of the silicone refills, rather than rubber.

It sounds like you're sticking with the stock blade/carrier, which I advise, and agree with CharlieS. I've tried some of the more expensive Bosch, etc...wipers and had problems with them lifting at highway speeds. Currently running stock wipers, and change them as needed.

I use bosche icons on all my vehicles and being in the PNW I can attest to their effectiveness in the rain.
Yes. Me too, and they last a long time. Costco has michelin wiper blades for $9 per blade. I just put those on wife’s truck. Can’t beat that price.

Wiper blades? What wiper blades? Coated windshield is where it's at. Well, speeds above 35-40 mph that is.

In all seriousness, I haven't tried Toyota blades on my rig. Bosch Icon have been my favorite over the years.

@PabloTX are you sure your wipers are factory? How old is your rig?

Dealers do not put factory blades on. Toyota US service has a contract with a company called sight line that makes toyota branded wiper blades that snap onto our arms. They don’t hold a candle to factory quality. Plus, the whole thing needs to be replaced, whereas you can buy inserts for factory blades for less than $10 each.

+1 for Costco and the Michelin blades (and almost anything else they sell). They're great and a steal at whatever they cost. If you somehow don't like them, Costco will take them back no questions asked.

When I first bought my truck, I order Toyota wiper blade inserts. It appeared previous owner replaced OEM wipers with generic wipers with Lexus logo on the mounting points. Was able to replace drivers side rubber insert and had to order OEM wiper blade for the passenger side (OEM insert didn’t fit).
Drivers side was working perfect, passenger side with new insert and lexus logo wiper blade was leaving water streaks. Ended up replacing passenger side with Toyota OEM wiper blade as well.
So far happy with original wiper blades.

I agree, they work really well.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Less than 2 years and 19k miles. I'm the original owner. They were fine until the last four months or so.

I'm not sure why that link didn't pop up in my search. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I usually change my inserts before they hit a year. Being able to order just the rubber parts helps keep the cost down.. and I’m a stickler for a clean windshield.

Which is a big part of why I won’t use rainx or other coatings.

I just use the factory rubber inserts. I typically change them every 6-8 months depending on there effectiveness. Haven’t found anything better.

Another OEM insert fan here. I change them out every spring.

OEM - only. Have tried everything else on the market. You need to make sure it's the OEM Japanese made inserts/rubber.

Where does everyone get their inserts? Had my wipers for about 18 months and have started to notice some streaking/missed spots.

eBay!
