Silicone wipers paired with ceramic coated windshield, match made in heaven.

Chiming in on an old thread to say that my wipers worked a LOT better once I replaced the wiper arms. It seems that the springs in the arms fatigue quite a bit over time.

In the "olden days", we used the bend the arm(s) slightly inward to increase the spring tension.....I haven't thought about that in years. FWIW, I just happen to grab a set of Michelin blades this week. Also, a trick I always used (grew up in the burbs, but in the city often), was to use a loose razor blade to scrape the road crap (grease, tar, oil etc) off of the windshield. We would also wipe down where the blades contact the windshield with paint thinner (or whatever). It's amazing how much crap came off. From there I just use the old skool Rain-X and call it good. I'm at 94K and it's looking like a new windsheild hight also be in my future.

Are you one of those that pull your wiper blades off the window when snow is coming? That can also add significant stress to the springs and impact the pressure on your blades to the windshield if regularly done over time.

I do not, but that seems like a fair point that I never considered.
