For reasons not worth getting into, I needed a new wiper motor fast so I got a cheap reconditioned one. I know, I got what I paid for, but until I can get an OEM, I need to use this one. Actually, it is OEM, just used. I have never installed one so I did not know what to expect. The motor works fine, but when I turn on the wipers, They act differently. They will not go far enough, and then when they stop, they go backwards about 6 inches. So in order to use them at all, they have to be more or less right in the middle of the windshield. Did I install something wrong? I never checked to see if the motor turned backwards when stopped. I just checked to see if it turned at all before installing it by plugging it in and turning it on full speed. Does it reverse?

Hi, try to remove the motor from the linkage. When you have remove it , switch on the motor then turn it off. Re engage the linkage again to the motor and make sure the position of the wipet arm is also in the position when the wiper is turned of. I hope this helps.

It has to do with when you slid the motor shaft and the wiper drive together. I did the same with mine, but I'm too lazy to fix it I guess. Mine backtrack about 2', then cycle and stop a little high on the WS.

You can pull off the motor, cycle it, then set the wiper arms at the correct position, then TRY to align it and get the RIGHT set of splines aligned for the final. It's kind of a pain and I'm sure there an official procedure, but I didn't follow it, as I didn't have an FSM when I did mine.

Turned out to be a nice PITA but I got it working. It was more luck than anything when I did it. When I first tried it, I did exactly what BILT said and I still do not understand what I did wrong. BTW, if you do it wrong, you can do some serious damage to the louvered cowl. I had to take it off and repaint the thing. Learned my lesson and I have since gotten an FSM. Luckily I am on to bigger and better things like trying to (YACK!) my bearings out of my drive shaft!
