Unfortunately that may be our only choice, Xinyi Glass (XYG), DOT Manufacturer # 1040, a large glass manufacturer with multiple factories in Chy nuh.

What was the price of the glass and how would you rate the optical clarity compared to an OEM windshield ie: any noticeable defects, waviness, ??

No, there's this, too.

Regarding my Air 80 install, I paid just over $600 out the door for all the glass except the sunroof. I'll observe the quotes on the same job were all over the place. In retrospect, I would have had the sunroof done too (though the install shop said it doesn't make any real difference) because why not?

I know there are lies, d*mn lies, and photographs, but in trying to be helpful I took the following picture. Windshield is Air 80, then open air, then Air 80 over whatever slight tint is embedded in the factory DS window. You can note a light difference between the first two, but I'd say other than a slight (appreciated) reduction in glare the windshield coating is not noticeable in practice. The second picture was taken at the install shop with just the intent of sharing the project with a few buddies.

I just had my first multi-hour trip in the truck since the install, including a late afternoon drive going west on Thursday, then a return at peak temperatures today. I'm happy with the results.

Sorry, didn't mean to get the thread off topic. IIRC someone in the past year said they couldn't find any source of Windshield glass for our vehicles?? (I haven't checked recently) Maybe it was just a temp shortage?? FUYAO is also a Chy owned company that owns glass plants all over the world, including the US.

It looks pretty good to me, no defects or waviness from what I can tell. I'm sure there's better quality but for a DD that get's peppered quite a bit in the mountains year round, it's perfectly fine as a consumable. With regard to this thread, the heat reduction from what was on there before is noticable and I'm happy. If I wanted an all original truck or something concourse-y, I'd go elsewhere, but for something that will be used regularly, no regrets.

Price was just shy of $400 installed.

Guys don't get stuck on just Air 80. There are PLENTY of really good window tint brands that offer light tints (70%+). We use XPEL XR Plus at work, but other options are Llumar (Formula 1). I think there was a comparison video somewhere on youtube that showed how different brands stack up in heat and uv rejection. The shop/installer doing the work is probably more important than the brand of film. There are alot of good brands nowadays, just make sure it's installed correctly because if it's a bad install that has creases, heat/compression marks, you will hate it on your windshield.
