Hello,
I am going to put a winch on my 100 series but im not sure what size i should get, anyone got any suggestions? Also, who makes the best winch? With all my gear it probably totals 7700 pounds. Thanks for the help!
-Dave

Dave,

Most LC folks will reommend at least a 12k lb winch. I am running a Warn M12000 on an ARB Deluxe Winch Bar. The arb bar weights at least 75 lbs and the Warn is 136 lbs.

What are you going to mount it on? ARB has a great looking new bar that is a combination of the Deluxe Winch Bar and Sahara bar. Have you upgraded the front torsion bars to handle the extra load?

What other mods have you done? I will give you the readers digest version of recommended modifications, tires, lift (torsion bars, shocks and rear springs), sliders, front bumper and then a winch.

Take it easy,

12,000 definitely, if not 15,000. You are winching not only the weight of the rig but also the added resistance from the obstacle....rocks and mud can be unforgiving when stuck.

Warn makes an awesome winch, and I've read good reports on the T-Maxx stuff too.

Nothing beats a 24v Warn 8000lb highmount winch, if you ahve room for another alternator. 8)

The standard 12 v highmount is the pick of the bunch too, beats the other warn crap lowmount warn POS....

Thanks for the help, i will probably mount the winch on an ARB bull bar. I currently have an OME suspension and i am ordering ARB heavy duty torsion bars. I also have dual arb air lockers on it too. Thanks

Yea, thats awesome looking, i think i am going to have to buy one. My cruiser is an 02. I think i am going to buy a Kaymar tow bumper too so i can mount my spare on it.

Which new bar are you referring to ? I didn't see anything new, just the regular deluxe bull bar and the sahara bar.

Go to www.arbusa.com

Then select, products, then protection equipment, bullbars, then range by vehicles, then select Toyota Land Cruiser, see the first bullbar called the LandCruiser 100 Series (10/02) IFS deluxe winch bull bar - this is the new one. Champaigne colored cruiser. The difference is that it has sahara style round fog lights in the bumper vs just turn signals.

Then scroll down, this is the old one - LandCruiser 100 Series (to 10/02) IFS deluxe winch bull bar. This is a grey colored cruiser.

If you want a bulletproof winch built for everyday abuse, buy a Superwinch Husky 10. It'll pull 11,500 before stall. New versions come with the waterproof Curtis Albright Contactors in place of solenoids.

The new ARB combination bar is not available for trucks pre 2003

Will the Sahara bar fit 98 /99 model years??

Yes, the Sahara bar will work with 98/99 models.
