I’m based in Sri Lanka and although we have a TON of LC100/105s that run around, most have been thrashed around quite a bit. After about a year’s hunt, finally locked in on this last week:
-2000 LC100 VX
-1HDT 4.2 Diesel. Manual transmission (most LC 100s I inspected on my hunt were running 1HDT and not the 1HD-FTE variant).
-Odometers have been rolled back (common practice here) to just under 200k but after checking with service records at the Toyota dealership, guesstimated actual mileage to a little shy of 400k
-Specs are pretty much stock in and out, save for a Tesla-syle head unit w/Apple CarPlay (which is not necessarily a dealbreaker) and a newer steering wheel.
-Came with the OEM factory winch set up, complete with its own Toyota winch remote set which I’m yet to test out.
-Center and rear diff as stock
-Dual spare wheel spec
-Interior is in pretty good shape (usual wear and tear at the top of the center console and the driver’s seat has seen better days). Passenger seat belt does not work along with passenger seat controls.
-Exterior has zero frame damage/rust - barely any visible bodywork with original paint & decals except for some work on the front left fender
-Tyres were getting bald running a 275/70R16. Swapped them yesterday for some Toyo ATIIIs at 285/75R16 and she sits quite well now.
-Done a full fluid replacement and service at the dealership
She needs a bit of work:
- Turbo light is a steady orange on the dash - did a quick check and it seems that the intake hose is leaking. Hoping that’s the case and nothing too serious with the turbo.
- Injectors are a little leaky
- Steering rack/tie rods are quite worn and needs to be replaced
- Brakes are a tad iffy - perhaps a booster and ABS check
- Rear diff is leaking along with the transfer case
- Gearbox oil seal is leaking
- Rear U joint is pretty worn
- All shocks need replacement along with the UCA & LCA (which is fine, I’m planning on installing a lift with new shocks and UCA)
- Ride’s a little rattly - planning on replacing all bushes and mounts
- AHC is malfunctioning: does not rise to High and does not come back up to Neutral after setting her down to Low - I have to drive the car above 15 kmph to have her go back up
