i just took the winch fairlead off the bruiser becuase it was straight rust, i sanded it down, and shinned it up.. but is there any produt out there to prevent rust on those things? i thought about por-15 but doesnt that only remove rust?
thanks

you need to get stuck more, use the winch more, and then those rollers won't rust up....hehehe

Honestly, anything you use on there will wear off...I'd suggest a good quality light gray primer topped with some light gray rust-resistant paint, then just accept that the cable is gonna wear it down.

Another option would be a poly hawse...they are supposed to work well with cable, and yer set for a future rope upgrade...

i looked at rust preventive por-15, and i was gonna put the stirling silver over it.. becuase it says that the rust preventive paint cannot be exposed to light. it says the stirling silver is a permanent silver coating developed for application over painted and unpainted surfaces. Apply over POR-15 Rust Preventive Paint for the toughest, most permanent protection against rust and corrosion ever developed.

do you think that would work?
thanks, mark

A rediculously tough coating is POR-15 that is painted (use Krylon or Rustoleum or whatever) while it is ALMOST cured.

I'd just sand it and use Naval jelly.

Works for me. Another trick is to go wheelin' with J**Ps, Broncos, and Blazers, who regularly need to be winched out... keeps those rollers nice and free. Also supplies much entertainment watching them thrash around trying to get through.
I love my Cruiser. 8)

sounds good to me...just remember, it's not wear resistant, and that cable will wear it down fairly quickly.
