i got a new camera. :) see the thing is I 'don't' want to you to see how the paint really looks :) the last few pics were with the new camera and one thing I do notice is while they are all a bit out of focus (wrong setting on the camera) they are showing much more accurate color. when the sun is out next i will drag the bib out and shoot some pics of it in the sun and in the sahde and see how they turn out.

but i like my progress. i keep chipping away at it

No doubt about it, your progress is inspiring. At the rate you are moving you will be driving that baby soon. Wish I could say the same thing. Some times I wonder if I am wasting my money bc it may never get finished. Keep up the posts and the great work.

today I started to dry fit the heater I got from vintage air in. does anyone know where i can get heating hose adapters? not he ones the coolant runs through but the ones going from the unit to the vents that the hot air actually travels through?

Do you mean like this??

This is just silicone fittings and hose like from a vacuum cleaner. Hot rod shops and on-line are good places to look for the silicone hose fittings. The silicone hose comes in lots of different sizes and a few different colors as well.

yep hoses like that are exactly what I am looking for. I have ordered the jcwhitneyRV catolog and I am hoping in there AC department they have something or atleast offer some different sized heat duct . thanks cruiser_guy

Merbes i keep plugging awayi used to think unless stuff was finished it wasn't progress but now i feel anytime spent is progress. its hard sometimes keeping track like i will get a side project 90% complete then need to order a part or 2 and totally loose track of completeing that project somethings are as simple as running out of hose clamps then forgetting to get them on so I find myself triple checking everything . not finding as much left undone as I used too:)

still messing with the heater i got it bolted in on the passenger side instead the center in that i want to be able to get the cowl vent to work and just felt the space would be better used for other things. i also made the decision to install a rear heater in the circuit as well seeing how my 2f is set up for the rear heater. so the holes are drilled just need to get some firewall grommets for the holes. and just rig up a "U" for the time being until i get the rear heater and hard lines. but atleast this will close the coolant circute and i can fill the radiator.

Those were pictures of my '55. I got those silicone elbows here Silicone Products & Clamps : EMSPowered, High Quality, Great Service, Low Prices but they are available in many different places. The hose I got at an industrial hose supplier here in Guatemala but I'm sure in any major area in the states you can find it as well.

On the sound insulation, I'd personally run it up as high as possible on the firewall. Don't stop at the floor level. I'll be spraying a special firewall insulation on my firewall and then covering that with the regular sound insulation material. Remember the engine is on the other side and it's the noise/heat generator!!

thanks for the link. some of there stuff looks promising.

on the sound proofing thing I do plan to run it up the firewall but wanted to figure out where stuff was going on the firewall first and what I was going to use to cover it up again. prolly some sort of stock firewal cover like SOR sell but will some added insulation in there as well. the tranny hump still needs it too. I did the floors doors and tail gate. I did not do the roof so I am hoping what I have done is enought. i plan to use the dynamat hood insulator as well.

on the sound proofing I used 'phatmat' i like the dynamt extreme a ittle better it is thicking and sticks a bit better.but it is twice as much for half the amount. I might have to do another layer on parts of the floors we willl see.

I got them from a mid 90's tacoma in the junk yard for $25. I got the center lap elt too but I don't think I will use it now I think Iam going with buckets in the ront

Ha I have been busy buying my laundry list of parts I still need to start it... again :)

fox came over today and after a couple hours we ran her for 10 secnds or so. man she sounded great. I need to make a few things more permenatt and tighten some other things down and get the battery tray and ignotor bolted down but she is pretty close to being able to turn the key and go.

it was an awesome liestone it sounded good. i think I am a month or so away from the point where we can start it and let it run awhile. should have the battery tray and perminant cables installed soon and once the rear heater is installed i can fill the radiator system. the right bolts for the fuel sender are on the way then the tank can be filled. it really is starting to come together.....
just need time

I got a fair amount of stuff done on Wilma this week end. I finally finally finally have a door put all ogether the way I want it. yeah!!! I ended up using the jcwhitney window chennel I have the part number in my dog eared catolog at work so I will post up the part number I used on the window gasket and seals thread.

but it is all together. and works decently.

I also got my battery tray mounted the way I wanted it up on a 2x6" spacer in order to clear the ac compressor mount which has no compressor at this time but is part of the engine mount so I made room for it incase i do end up using it down the road. who knows....

I have also started my seat frame project but more on that when I complete it which will take me a bit of time but I will be workin on other projects as well so I will keep the thread going. :)

seat frame project

this project has been fun but time consuming. my idea as it has developed is to have bucket seeats in the front of the lv. I got a nice set of used camare seats form '82cruiser' thanks Randy. they came in his troopy form Oz one nice feature is that since they were from a rhd vehicle the lh side seat is still in very good shade and the cushion is still very comfy. these seats are about the size of fj60/62 seats and I hav eordered the tough duct SOR seat covers for the fj60 in grey to match the rear bench seat ones. I am not a huge leather or vynil fan and have had great usage of my tough duct seat covers in my fj62. i just don't like the hot in the summer and ice in the winter of lether/vynil. plus my dog would destroy them andnot have traction...

so once I decided on going buckets alot of pondering went in to the right arangement. so I ordered a tuffy consul in grey to match the interior color cheme and am working on a rear center counsul heater as well so I will prolly have to cut a bottom portion out of my brand new tuffy :( not to worried will get there. but what i have done is gotten some rear heating lines for a late modle fj40 and run them back now i just have to figure out what heater to use. fox gave me a vey cool 7" square box but I think that is going to be too high and make me have to cut more out of the tuffy than I want too. i am traking down a fj60/62 rear heater now.

but that will all go in after I get the seat frames done. I thought about doing one frame across but realized it would have to get funky around the heater and center counsul. so then I decided to go with seperate seat frames for each seat.... and this got me thinking after looking at Kevin Rowlands site
www.wagongear.com
why not put the front seats on hinges so i can get under there in that storage area easier. I am also working with Kevin to have him produce a tailgate lid for the lv. so I might have a near perfectrear tailgate cover for sale at some point.

so that is wher eI am at right now building the seat frames for each front seat. i started up with the drivers seat and am at the point where I just have to install the latches and finish up so fill in type welding. but here are my pics of my progress

ok over the last couple days I have finished up getting the drivers seat mounted.the whole project came out alot better than i thought it would and witht he set finally mounted I climbed in held the wheel and went Vroom Vroom for alittle while. ..

so the fj60 sor seat covers fit decently on my camry seats for the most part i need to tighten up the bottom a bit but have already figured out how I will do that

once the seat was mounted I started planyin with the tuffy and were it will go. I put a couple coats of bedliner on my transmission hump so i can get that back in thre as well once I get the last parts to mount up the t-case shifter. the PO lost it.

anyway I thin the tuffy will be high enough to be able to fit the rear heater under hte back with out having to take a section out of the bottom but we will see.
