Will these wheels and tires fit my stock suspension 1997 FZJ80? Theses are 35x12.50r17. I believe the -6 shown in the pic refers to -6 backspacing, but not sure. Thanks

I don't think so. Slee Offroad recommends a 5" lift for 35" tires. They say a 2" lift will work OK for around town, just look out for speed bumps.
That's a nice looking 40th Anniversary, as is.

I ran 35’s on factory suspension for a while until I got my first lift ten years ago. They worked fine on the street but I knew that a bit of lift and lowered bump stops would be necessary to do some more serious off road driving. A 2”-3” lift is what is usually installed with 35’s. There are people running 37’s on a 3” lift.

33s (305s) will fit under a stock suspension for the street and moderate trail use. Works surprisingly well, even if it does look a bit goofy. With 35s, you are gonna be scrubbing tires into the fenderwells and potentially damaging fender flares with anything but pavement use.

Mark...

Stock alloys have a 0 offset on 8" wide wheels giving them 4.5" backspacing (mounting surface to rim edge). The wheels pictured are 9" with -6 offset, which I believe is about .25". The negative offset moves the mounting surface toward the back of the wheel (pushing the wheel out). So, if my math is correct, your new wheels would extend .75" further outboard and .25" further inboard. Your tire mounted width is added to that.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

315/75-16 at stock height.
