Does anyone think Toyota will get a CLUE and offer this is convertible format?

Jeep is introducing a 4 door convertible wrangler. They will not be able to keep them on the lot.

I do not want to buy a Jeep but would like a 4 passenger 4x4 convertible. Looks like Jeep will have the only offering for some time.

If Jeep puts the CRD into the Rubicon, I may have to silently get one.

I give Jeep credit, regardless of the actual implementation of their vehicles (parts, reliability, et al) they are actually doing the right thing for what we want in the market!

As always said, Toyota's just too damn big now to care.

If the crd goes in the rubi, I am getting one.

Specs
crd
front and rear diff locks
4 door
convertible
warranty
good fuel mileage

I wish Toyota would get a clue and make it.

Rumors say that the redesigned 07 Wrangler will have the crd and will be for sale next summer. I think I'll wait for it...

I'm hedging my bets against the fact that Toy will introduce a removeable or convertible topped FJC within the first three years of rduction if it sells well.

IMHO: I don't think they have "forward looking thoughts". Many of Toys better upgrades come after the model has been around for atleast 2-3 years.

At least thats what I'm hoping.

Speaking of the new 07 Wrangler, I remember reading somewhere that the complete removable hardtop has come to an end.

The article that I was reading said that Jeep is going to try something new where the top is fixed, but that hard sides will be removable.

I'll look to see if I can find the article.

If Jeep is heading away from a fully removable hardtop, I find it hard to see Toyota spending the R&D to make a convertable.

Maybe I just don't have a good imagination but I really can't envision a full convertable on this truck. I would think at a minimum you would need to keep the roof line above the doors to support the front door and the access doors. I could see a slide-back/removable top. Somewhat similar to the Smart Roadster (UK) (Yes, I watched Top Gear last night :) )

Ya'll can go get your terrible build quality Heeps with an Italian built diesel in 'em. You have good luck with that. I don't like when my junk breaks so I'll be wheelin' on past ya in my FJC. Being a Cruiser owner, I'll stop and strap you out.

I prefer the wagons with a top on 'em anyway, (like the vast majority of TLC models) so it's not such a big deal to me if they don't have removable hard top.
