hi im thinking about buying prado(yes they are cheap) will this little motor pull smal trailer with one snowmobil +/-800 lbs on famous highway 99 vancouver-whistler?? thanx for info:beer:

Install a new head and water pump etc and address the deficiencies in the cooling system and put on a good set of gauges and it would likely be a reliable rig and capable of towing 800lbs...er slowly. Just watch the stress on the engine on the climbs.. the mountain passes seems to be where they overheat and crack heads. Maybe do the math first though.. the cost of all the work may eat up the savings between the cost of a real cruiser and a Playdo.

Woops ;-)

Thinking of pulling a small enclosed trailer myself..
Loading all the band gear up into the Prado is tough after a gig..
I'm thinking why not pull a single axel fully enclosed trailer with the swing out door on the back. They are lined with plywood inside with a skin of aluminum on the ouside..

Can one remove the loop bolted on the back and replace that with some kind of hitch or is the rear frame member not strong enough??

the rear frame member is strong enough to pull 6000# (since Berni has pulled enough "heavy duty" cruisers out of the mud...).

So that is strong enough..
What hitch would bolt up to the existing 4 holes..
Wouldn't it, the Ball need to be lower for a tailer to be pulled in a level position due to the truck height..?
You will have to excuse me I Know not of what I speak.

you can get a pinto ball combo from Princess auto that bolts right into the 4 existing holes (you need to remove the step ortion of the rear bumper). all the pintos will bolt on. or you can mount a 2" reciever under the bumper at the rear thus ruining your already poor departure angle.

shamless plug:
i sell a 5 wire to 4 wire convertor (it also works as a 24V-12V convertor for the 24V trucks to run a north american trailer behind the Japanese trucks...

Your shamless plug noted.. :-)
This trailer thing may not happen for a while but I thought I'd ask while this thread was going.. Is there anything else that will bolt to the existing 4 holes that is adjustable or removable (slide in when you need, slide off when not needed)
Slide to adjust for hieght (there by keeping trailer level).I know what I want but do not know any one who could build it..
Any way what's out there...

I tow with mine & it does OK, except on hot days.

I have towed up to 3 tonnes with it & ys it is slow & yes it will get hot if you push it too hard, but then again it gets hot anyway.

Yes I have done the head & radiator upgrades & have now just installed a RX7 intercooler and extra ventilation under the bonnet.

My tow hitch is a Genuine yota one. It was removed from a 75 series trayback & pretty much bolted straight on.
