I love it!!

Simple, light, and ready to go...what else do you need??

Been a bit since I could spend any time on this. I finally got some new struts for the back window of the shell. No longer have to carry a small pair of vice grips to hold it open. Also should be working on the tongue stretch and kitchen box on the tongue very soon. Will post pics.

 very nice, subcribed

I have had this same idea for a while. (except for the tent). I want to do a roof rack with ladders on both sides.

Are you running the mini truck axle or a trailer axle with toyota lug pattern?

:cheers: and:beer::beer:, Ben

The axle was already on the trailer when I got it. But it is a trailer axle with hubs from an early drum brake front end complete with selectro hubs.
Update coming real soon. Built platform for kitchen box and changed tongue up a bit..

I have some concerns about how the lunette is attached to the tongue. Pivoting on threads is an ages old method (Mercedes used it for years and years in their front suspensions), but I don't think that you have enough thread length in the slotted nut. I'd encourage cutting off that nut, grinding a normal nut to fit inside of the tube and plug welding it in place, then weld another normal nut on like you did with the slotted nut. Place the inside nut so that it just fully engages the far end of the threads. Might even add a grease zerk to the tongue between the nuts.

I didn't set out to have the ring pivot like that. I wanted to have the tongue removeable for kitchen use. When it came time to attach the ring it seemed super simple for it to pivot and more of a why not thing than anything else. That nut is massive and burned in in a serious manner with the big boy glue gun. I would consider it to be significantly stronger than the multi axis attachments I have seen used. The pictures really don't do it justice. I think if you saw it in person you might think differently. Like your signature says your opinion has cost me nothing, I do appreciate it and have taken it into consideration for sure.

It was more the lack of thread engagement length that concerns me. Puts a lot of bending moment on the nut. Food for thought anyway.
Cheers!

Whoa! I hadn't thought of the Wildernest. That would be perfect for my trailer. :hhmm:

I think you're gonna need a hitch and trailer lights plug first. Then absolutely. Barn brethren. You could bolt a pintle hitch right to your bumper since there is nothing there now.

A couple weeks later john borrowed it again and went to the swell. I think he has used it more than I have.

I bought the trailer from a member on ExPo and then he sent me a the CL ad for the wildernest.

I need a front window for the wildernest, and I spent about 10 hours cleaning it and retreating it for waterproofing, but its coming along.

I like your stabilizer idea and I might borrow that one.

As much as I would like to make it into an actual camper with some built ins, I am going to keep it simple, cheap, and removeable so i can still use the trailer as a trailer for yardwork when I need to.

The wildernest is very stout and I have been very impressed with its build quality while working on it.
One thing I plan to do to the truck bed is cut the lower panels off. A guy on expo did that and it really cleaned up the look.

I will keep an eye on your build and I will post up when I make a change to mine.

Is that a Centraloverland sticker? Way to rep. Come on some of our trips!

Looks great!!! Jealous of these vintage truck bed trailers!
