Why is Socalfj still a mod in the socal 80's board even though he is not around as much since selling his Fjz80. I think we should have a mod that is around more like Brent. How would we go about getting this changed. If the mod is no longer a LC owner why is he still a mod? Just asking!!!!

It's up to Woody. Tare is our other mod on this section. I appreciate your vote of confidence Ian and I'm not opposed to it.

Woa, where'd this come from? Around? Im on here probably 8 hours a day. Just cause i dont post as much or dont have a landcruiser doesn't mean im not here. That was the whole reason for me being a mod, im actually here to keep an eye on things. No mod, mod.. whatever... if you wanna take over Ian go for it. I was just helping out.

Whoa!

Talk about a hostile take over! I have no qualms with Socal being a moderator. He (so far) has not be unfair or unreasonable. Always giving up information and helping people out, as far as I have seen. Even though he doesn't own an LC anymore, does not make him any less than a man........well maybe:D, but that is besides the point. Is having an LC a pre-requisite to being a moderator? If not then I say let it be. Unless he has done something wrong? Has he?

Where did that come from Ian, Dave is a good guy who has always been a positive force on this forum. I guess us non 80 owners better stop posting here too, I mean come on, it's not like we share any of the same interests or go wheeling together.

Ouch....That stung just a bit. I have never met SocalFJ but it appears from his post he is ALWAYS around and the boy knows his stuff! I vote to keep em!

From my experience the people of SoCal 80s are very considerate, kind, helpful, hardworking and family oriented people. The group was formed around the Landcruiser 80 series (Lexus LX 450) vehicles. SoCal 80s membership is open to all other makes and models of vehicles
I remembered this when I went through the rigs of this clubhouse awhile back. :)

I know SoCalwhateverthehellhehasthismonth pretty well.

I too wonder why he's a mod. Its obvious he's never on a computer, never surfing the innerwebs, and obviously, this month, he doesn't have a Cruiser.

Down with SoCal!!!!

/sarcasm

You mean other than being a TRAITOR?!?!

I think the fact that Dave wants to moderate at all should be a clear sign of his qualification to do so. I mean, I sure as hell don't want to do it, and I'm sure as hell nobody else wants me to do it either. This section has so far been informative, organized, and clean. The handful of people who frequent it have shown a modicum of community and class (which is more than I can say for some other "clubs" I've been loosely involved with, where petty bickering rules the banter). They've almost convinced me that four wheeling social groups can actually work well and engender friendship.

What I'm trying to say is "If Dave ain't broke, don't fix him."

Well said and the last part=funny.

IMHO - Dave's been broke for quite some time...Cruiser, cruiser mods, trailer, trailer mods, trips, more mods, more trips, more mods, more goodies, etc (you get the picture - lots of them!). Somewhere in there he lost it and sold his beloved cruiser and trailer and went with an SMB and is now even more broke and probably contemplating mods there too. ;)

At least he had enough sanity to sell the cruiser and trailer to a fellow mudder!

;)

:D

Agreed- I think SOCALFJ spends a great deal of time keeping you 80 guys in check and out of trouble;). God know's what would happen if you guys were allowed to be unsupervised.

:hhmm: I say let him stay - as long as he places an IH8MUD sticker somewhere on that SMB. :D

I am staying too dammit. I don't care if I am on the right coast. Super Dave has my vote, even though I am not registered to vote in CA.

Thanks for all the support guys, i feel like im running for president here or something and i already have the job. In reality i could care less if im mod or not, its not a big deal to me. I'll just tell you what i already said before. Im online 24 hours a day anyways so for me it's easy to watch the board to make sure its running smoothly. Im more than happy to do it. If anyone feels they can do a better job, then so be it... its not the end of the world for me. Besides, this isn't the only board im a mod for.

That's pushing the limits my friend! ;) We've got to get you back out here some day! :D

Hope all is well in Atlanta!

Ian:

It does not matter what vehicle you have to be a member of SoCal 80s. Dave explained to me that you posted in several threads about a group run and he deleted them for being off topic. This is why we have a moderator to keep threads clean and on topic. I’m not saying it’s a perfect system; threads will still take a turn or two. However when someone posts something that has nothing to do with the thread the mods step in and cleans it up. Understand this is nothing personal. Please start your own thread about the Death Valley Run, hope you guys have a blast, thanks Tare.

I think it's all good. I believe Ian was just asking a simple question assuming that Dave was not as interested in being a Mod since he no longer has a KICK ARSE Cruza.

Maybe we are like the old wife at home taking care of the kids while he is off with Lady mistress (SMB-SinksInMUD.com) modding till' his heart is content.

And further more I am not sure I can live with a mod who has blinds on his rig!!! :hhmm: :ban:

I have to agree. Dave is a good guy and has done nothing but good for our group. It does appear Ian's original post was a reaction to having some off topic posts deleted. Sometimes threads get hijacked and as much as I hate to admit it I have been the unintentioned culpirt at times. But out of the blue posts not related to the thread topic are better left off/removed regardless of who posts them.

Personally I am happy you wanted to spread the word of your run Ian but I do think you should have just started your own thread. You would get much more response that way as well.

Sorry, Smitty, I hate to give you the bad news. You're clearly on the wrong coast, not the right coast, as most of your own posts very clearly demonstrate. C'mon back!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Take care,
JR
