Wayne et al,

I'm starting to see some really obscure JDM's on the roads here in BC, but still I haven't seen a 7-series Troop Carrier. I thought for sure they'd be legal given that they've been produced since 1984 (I believe).

I would have thought the troop carrier would have been really popular out here.

There is a 75 troopie here in ottawa somewhere, haven't seen it for a few years though.

Moose:

There was a Troopy in Tofino last month when I was down there - LHD, rusty, and beat to schmitt - the windshied was in place, but there wasn't 10 square inches without a crack - saw it four or five times over two days.

have seen at least two others with swiss/french and or german plates as well.

there are a few out there. not sure if any "live" here.

the 70 series troopies and trucks were not sold (at least not a lot) in japan AFAIK.

True ,they reimport them from oz for Japanese collectors. They especially like the FZJ75 Im told

Crusty - That's definately the same one! It probably was white under the dirt/dust/rust.

Moose - I seem to recall it had Alberta plates, but I wouldn't bet a  on it. I also have the impression that it had a GER oval sticker on the back.

I reimport them, and I think I have done the last one I will ever do. The trucks out of Oz, even say a 2002 or so, are beat by Japanese standards. On top of this the $AU is up 30% on the yen in two years.

The 1FZ is favoured by the people that live in the metro areas and face pollution restrictions. It is possible to register a diesel for that if you know how.

The 75, 78 and 79 were NEVER sold in Japan to the general public. There are a few in fire service but mostly that switched over to Fuso trucks.

Have not seen any 75, 78, or 79's Here

That seems strange considering the amount of 78's that seem to have been imported from Japan to Canada. Mine being one of them..
As a matter of fact I have not seen any other Land Cruisers here except mine:D

Sorry no intention on high jacking.

Heavy duty...not light duty. :D

Besides...I know someone who has a very sweet Troopy looking after this board. Now who could that be? :D

.

The FZJ75 are more beat than others. The ones Ive seen have usally been owned by boy racers and they change hands more often and shed resale value much quicker than the workhorse diesels.
The diesels are often one owner vehicles and often well cared for but clock up high klms
