"Combined (L/100km).....11.9)"

Dunno what that works out to..?

11.9 liters= 3.143647 US Gallons

100 Km = 62.13712 Miles

Or Approximately 19.765934279516752358009662026303 Miles per US Gallon

Pretty good for that type of vehicle if you ask me.

The 7.3 was and is a great engine. Dont sell the 6.0 short though. The first ones had some issues but they were resolved. The 6.0 is solid.

The 7.3 was and is great but emission requirements forced them to stop producing it. I dont want to get into a mud slinging contest but the 6.0 suck. Ford and Navistar are currently in a ongoing lawsuit over the huge cost of repairs on these engines. If you talk to ford diesel mechanics, the 6.0 is a huge favorite of theirs. They were starving trying to make money on the repairs of the 7.3 but are booking hours and hours of time on the 6.0. I had 6 7.3 and took them all over 150k, my 6.0 was in the shop more than I had it and many times for several weeks because of the backorder on parts needed to fix it.

From the wallstreet journal

The dispute started in January when Ford filed a lawsuit in Michigan state court against Navistar, arguing that Navistar unjustifiably raised engine prices and had not been paying its share of repair costs for Power Stroke diesel warranty claims. Ford says it has spent $1 billion on repairs and recalls to fix problems with legacy 6.0-liter Power Stroke diesel engines the 6.4-liter replaced. Ford further contended that the purchase contract allowed it to debit Navistar's invoices to recover these costs, which it had done up to $160 million after filing suit.

I WILL own one of these one day! My question is, why not have one shipped to the US even if it doesn't pass emissions? Just pay the fine if you get caught pay it and go with it, although I dont know how much a fine is or the extent of the fine. Also, is there any other reason it wouldn't be driveable on US roads?

You cant title it in the US. You will not be able to get it out of the port or through customs. You could drive it up from south america but how will that work out. With no title you will not be able to get a insurance company to insure it. If you only drove it on trails and never a road you will still take the risk of getting sued if you hit someone.

you could'nt be more wrong. Oh no you're right, SUV's don't sell well in America I forgot.:flipoff2:

BS - maybe you forgot we're talking about the new 70 series not Toy SUV's in general. Americans want yukons, escalades, and H2 and H3's - They want plush leather interiors, silky smooth rides and every interior amenity to go with it. THAT's why toyota will sell a 200 series here but never a 70 series.

when I said we were a small segment of the population I meant WE as in Cruiserheads, not WE as americans.

Drive it up from south america... Now that is a thought. Cross the border and put it on a truck, then take it montana and use it a farm vehicle... no registration needed or insurance, just a slow moving sign and a off road sticker and lots of woods and forests.. I am starting to scheme. Yes I am.

VERY well stated. Regarding diesels, will Honda be able to sell the reported
new Accord diesel in Kalifonia?

sorry but i just need to chime in with some hate... carb sucks:mad:... luckily i had someplace to register my car free of emissions controls, and was able to keep it... but carb wanted to take it from me... i say never *raises fist in solidarity*

I'm not up on legalities but I know some folks have kept their non-US rigs registered in other countries. I guess like having a residence in Canada and keeping the vehicle registered and up to date there.

We dont have these trucks in Europe either.
The reason for that i think is that we just dont need them!
A Hilux is heavy-duty enough, and the 120/prado fills the family-market.
There just aren't jobs that are tough enough.
These trucks are ment for Australian farmers, African game-rangers, and mining-companies.

The reason you dont have them in USA would have to be the competition.. Very few americans would pay twice as much for a foreign car than for a bigger and more "patriotic" US-truck..!?!?
:steer:

Not anymore... Look at Chevy, Ford and Dodge resale values. You drive of the new car lot and bingo that same truck is now 5-8 thousand cheaper. If you drive a toyota off the lot it is still worth more than the domestics. i have a 2003 ford expedition with 98k on it. I bought it with 96k in november of 2007, it was worth over 14k then. I checked a couple of days ago and it is now worth 9k. I paid 10k for it and I have paid a 1000 of off it and I still owe more than I can sell it now. When I bought it is was worth more than what I owed. Go figure. Buy Toyota save money! But I really like the expedition it has 4wd and seats 8, front and rear a/c with o/d. Not complaining to much.

that is awesome to look at- to bad the front looks like a taco. does anyone have any interior pics?

The cruiser would not even run good over here any way on this junk they call diesel that they think is gold. The diesel from over seas is rated at over 80cectane where ours in America is somewhere around 40 if you are lucky. The new diesel produced now that is supposed to be so great is leaving out key lubricants that are destroying injections pumps and injectors. I do not blame toyota for not wanting to try and figure out a way to retune their vehicle just to make that place far out west that needs to fall off a map happy. There are many vehicles that are avalible in different countries that are great but will never legally see the light of day over here.

I agree, they look like an updated 60 series.

Also, no airbags or abs - old school!

These vehicles are aimed fair and square at Government and fleet organisations here. The new 200 series isn't available as a poverty pack so the new 70 is the replacement.

Toyota sure knows how to recycle.
