What is the deal with everyone runing bfg at's on the fjc's? Is it the price or the look i dont understand? but anyway, im lookin for a 3 inch lift, i have an ARB so how should i go with the front?

^ The deal with the BFG's on FJC's, is that they are an awesome tire. They last forever, a very nice tire on the road, and performs exceptionally well off road.

I've had them on 40's, 80's and 4runners.

Good all around tire for my needs. Dont care what everybody else is running.

The BFG's are great tires and I run them on my FJ Cruiser. I have had BFG's on my last two Tacoma's and they do well on-road and off-road. chris

I have them on my 80 for about 20,000 miles. Still look brand new! Good ride on road and off, heard some bad things about them in the mud though.

Here's my 2 cent. Alot of Fj owners are new to wheeling so they seem to just follow tha masses. Like someone said in the post above the bfg at's do not do well in the mud. I also think they look like crap on the fj!

I have been looking at your avatar for over a year now and it's time to change it! lol It's like looking 15 years into the future for me. lol Ya know like a midlife crisis and trying to grow my hair long just 1 last time. :grinpimp:

I've been thinking about changing it for awhile but like you said it's pretty recognizable.

I've been running Bridgestone Revo's for the last few months and love em! Since I mostly do city driving they're amazing! I've taken them off road several times and they performed very well!

As far as a lift goes, I went with the Toytec lift. I put OME 885's on the front shocks with their 1/2 inch spacer (will upgrade to the OME units later). These are a little stiffer for a future ARB bumper and give great articulation. I have the Toytech custom springs in the rear with OME N71 shocks. The difference in the ride is noticeable!

For this forum, the BFGs are probably fine. But if you don't hate mud, I'd go for the Toyo MTs. I saw a few sets of BFGs get gummed up quick last weekend and the mud wasn't that bad. They don't seem to like the mud at all.

Do yourself a favor and check out the Firestone Destination MT's

Can you explain this please?

I've been running BFG at's long before internet forums existed.

My response has nothing to do with the internet, other than the fact that the name of this site and forum is called "I Hate Mud", thus infering from that the kind of terrain most of the folks here would be running will not involve mud. From that I would say that a BFG AT tire would be fine for most of those here who are running on dryer conditions and not mud. If they plan on running mud, from my experience, I've seen a few people running BFG ATs in mud and didn't fair too well. The AT tread clogged up even in mild muddy conditions and lost traction. So, if "You Hate Mud", then the ATs are fine. If you are gonna run in mud, I like the Toyo Open Country MT. That is all. :)

Your comment make you look like an idiot. Insulting forum members, talking out of you ass...

I have been wheeling for a long time. I have owned Boggers, Swampers, BFG MTs, ATs, etc. I have owned Jeeps, Land Rovers, etc. I (and many many others) run the BFGs because they work very well on many types of terrain. I don't like mud - so why the &%^# would I look for a tire whose primary focus is mud?

Wars were fought with flintlocks too.

I'll take my 6.8mm AR-15 and my Glocks.

I have not had any experience with BFG's, but I have great performance running Bridgestone REVO's. They do well as a highway tire and have performed well off road. I have just purchased some TRD 16" alloy wheels for the fj and will now be able to run true 33's with the REVO's.
