Check out THIS thread it was the begining of CSC as we know it today. It was within a couple weeks that the first of many unoffical meeting was set up.

There are a few CSC that hold a dual membership the president of AZLCA comes to mind.

Wow, your first post in there sounds like my experience back in 1998/99. I think Brad Musil was the president back then? Some things never seem to change...

be careful - they may have standards...:flipoff2:

Actually, I'm suprised inkpot hasn't weighed in. CSC has at least one regular that is active in both clubs.

OK. I suppose I will weigh in on this, although it's pretty much like the old Ford vs Chevy debates. The Chevy driver ain't likely to win when he's at the Ford dealership.

First, a little history on AzLCA. They got started up before internet bulletin boards and email. So, monthly meetings were about the only way to have a club. They were also members of TLCA for years, but not recently. They have been active/supportive of ASA4WDC for a very long time. There was a time a few years ago when the club really stagnated, but recently some members have stepped up to the plate and made some changes. The last couple of years have been really good. What little business that does need to be dealt with is done on the trail runs or by email. Medicbob has done a great job in setting up at least 1 or more trail runs each month. When he got involved, yea, the majority of members were from the west side, but there are a lot of eastsiders also. Seems like CSC has a lot of westsiders too. So who cares??? Both clubs accept members with virtually any Toyota with a tansfercase. Both clubs even have J++p buddies that come along on some of the runs. Both clubs seem to be migrating into the 80 series as a majority, although both have everything from stock FJ 40's to minitrucks to 100 series. Both clubs talk trash about the other club. Duh, what a waste of time!!

Both clubs are really pretty similar. Now. Don't worry about what used to be in the good old days, 5-10-15 years ago. Should there be 2 different clubs? Yea, probably. I think there are plenty of Landcruisers to go around. There are several of us that have enjoyed dual memberships, and if that fits your needs, then that's a good thing too.

RANT OFF
PS Bob's BBQ had way too much food, lots of kids running around, and they gave out lots of t-shirts in a variety of sizes.

PPS As the current President of AzLCA, I invite you to be my guest on out next run. We are going from Box Canyon to Superior on 3/27. This is a stocker friendly run, with optional challenges for those requiring additional entertainment. We are hoping that the winter rains will provide lots of color on this scenic ride. This invite is not meant as a solicitation for membership, but just an opportunity to enjoy a nice day of wheeling and meet some more members of the Landcruiser Community. I think that's what most of us are really here for.

PPPS I hope this thread doesn't just go on and on forever. It would be much more useful if the energy is directed towards something really important, like Trail Access. We are ALL loosing it pretty fast. Just take a look at the Tonto NF website. Proposed trail closures is a much more interesting, and educational, read that this thread could ever be...........

From a newbie’s perspective the difference is simple – Try to join CSC and a guy will hit you up for $20.00 for a shirt that is two small and a sticker. Mention the size problem, and after the insults, the same guy hits you up for a few more bucks for a shirt that fits. Try to join AZLCA and they want you to bring a friggin side dish for their BBQ! A side dish? Like I got time to cook.:bang:

WOW! Need time I make sure to throw in a reach around when I get done:flipoff2:

John, im glad you chimed in. The things we have learned from this simple thread has helped fill in alot of blanks in both CSC and the Clubs as well.

Time to form a third club.

The first meeting of AZCSLCA will be this upcoming Friday. T-shirt will be available for $20,00 (size small). Stickers will be handed out to anyone who brings a side dish. XL t-shirts, priceless. (Stop eating the side dishes fat a--).
Can't get enough of this guy - - - - :bang:

Time and location please. Do you take paypal?

I think two clubs work. If you compare the "main folks who go to group trail rides most" from each club you'll see two different personality types overall. That's OK...hang with the folks you feel more comfortable with most! If it's both then join both.

After spending a lot of time in both groups, I don't really see much difference in personalities. But, there is an ongoing effort to restore the TLCA status in AzLCA. In the good old days, that required 100% member involvement. That may be changing, so if you like TLCA, then AzLCA may be the place for you. John
