So I have an H55 and was replacing the clutch master the other day. In doing so I realized I have a booster for the clutch master and was wondering why? Every H55 I have ever seen does not have the booster. It does have a vacuum line to it. Didn't know the advantages of having versus not having, and if I removed it how that would affect shifting. Are the H55 internals going to be different as well? Kinda a weird question, just curious.

nice question

I will be looking at the replies with interest.
One year ago I swapped my 2H for a 12HT.
The donor car (HJ61) came with the boosted clutch pedal, but I did not use it.
Still have all the stuff to convert my "normal" clutch, so maybe...

The clutch booster gives a much lighter clutch pedal action, meaning it takes less effort to push the clutch pedal to the floor. (so long as there is vacuum at the booster)
It is nothing more than a vacuum boosted clutch master cylinder.
All the other clutch and gearbox parts are the same as in a non boosted set up.

My FJ 75 has a h55 transmission and it has a clutch booster. Did not really ever notice it till I drove my old 60 again and boy the clutch pedal felt stiff.

I would install the clutch booster if possible.

it just makes it easier to push the clutch pedal, I personally wouldnt probably put it on myself. my civic is a cable clutch so driving my cruisers and dodge truck with a hydraulic clutch is a dream. and the dodne has an aftermarket clutch that is much much stiffer than either one of my cruisers, so much so that it requires upgraded hydraulics.

Excellent

I can remove it! One less thing to go wrong now.

They were factory fitted to the FJ62 with h55 here in aust, nothing ever goes wrong with these things, why not use it? How often have you ever had to replace the brake booster?
