The US FJ60 have them for ventilation because of all the smog equipment. They have a fan that keeps running after you switch off to blow air on the carb.
Be thankful we never had smog equipment on our 3F;)

To true mate, the smog stuff sounds like a load of snot
Our early gxl 80 series that come out with the inj 3f's heard one the other month at a mates and after he turned it of it had a cool down fan in it somewere humming away for a minute or so and my mate said all the 3f inj 80's got it , the 3f inj 80's have the sticker on the rear quarters the just say EFI, the std early 80 series have the carbed 3f and no after shut of fan

I didnt know we have carbed 3F in the 80.

I guess they dont have a fan as they dont have the smog pump and 20 metres of vac hose blocking off the ventilation,

Lol 20 meters of snot

yep carbed as you get two mates had them there are under powered but and suck the juice big time

the ones into the body are for air compression when shutting the doors.
are the ones in the pics factory installed or aftermarket installs?

I used to have a mint condition Ford Ranger I bought from my grandpa, I always wondered why when 3 people would cram into the cab and the doors were shut my ears would pop sometimes...

I always thought you could pretty much suffocate yourself in the cab with 2 or 3 people breathing without the fan or vent on. Really puffy thick door seals and absolutly no vents...

the 75 series cab vents are litterly half the size of the 79 cab vents and they still dont let out enough air when closing the door , lots of beat up minning cruisers have cracks in the doors from people slamming the doors to get them shut instead of winding the window down a wisker to let the air out
