Who's running fuel lubricant?

I've gotten it at costco in the past for just over a dollar a litre, at one time it was just a few cents difference from dino and store bought veggie oil.

I wouldn't think 2% would be enough to notice much, I also find the cold weather a concern, and switch to two stroke for winter....

i buy the cheapest brand of canola oil on the shelf,,,usually a liter bottle per fill up. it does seem to run more smoothly...quieter.

did it first because i am new to deisels and thought it was a hoot that you can do it in the first place...it's still funnywhen people see me whip that bottle out at the pump see avatar

i am planning on running 2cycle oil when i finish this tank.
For the past month i have used howes.
Now my only concern is about jelling or getting poor fuel economy
i wish we had bio up here
i am a bit scared to run canola in the winter here. even if it is just a litre

Not me,I think its snake oil. I run some injector cleaner 2-3 times a year,nothing else.
Australia has been on low sulpher fuel for nearly 8 years,if it was going to kill my pump it would have done so buy now.
I had it serviced 2 years ago and it was good at 213000 and has now done 250000klms.

I think keeping the rotary pump cool is probably more important

I'm getting some black smoke on hard acceleration on the highway and was thinking about trying some injector cleaner. What brands have you tried and which one do you think has worked the best for you?

I definitaly X2 this, I've run Lucas, and Kleen flow fuel stabilizers, to lubricate my pump and injectors, but I didn't notice any difference in consumption or power...

However after running 5 to 15% canola, I noticed my truck ran quieter, the exhaust smelled a heck of a lot nicer than before, my egt's were down a few hundred degrees... I do however wonder how good the glycerine in SVO is for injectors, but I figure petro diesel is a great cleaner (you can degrease wheel bearings with it) and 5 to 15% canola shouldn't cause any issues at all especially in indirect injection diesels...

Also when mixing the SVO to diesel in a jerry can if you feel it after it's very very slippery!

Sounds interesting. Again I'm looking to to keep my new 1HZ running as clean as possible while keeping it well lubed. As to 5 - 15% canola oil ratio, assuming an 18 gallon tank and assuming that I wanted to run either a 10 or 15% mix of petro diesel (all that they have here) to canola, that works out to 1.8 - 2.7 gallons of canola at each fillup. Does that sound right?

John: Lubromoly's Diesel Purge is the injector cleaner of choice that Sheldon and Greg have recommended to me. THis product is highly regarded by the VW TDi folks, and seem to work well in Cruisers. Instead of dumping a bottle into your tank, you take of the intake and return fuel lines and put it directly into this bottle and run your engine until it's gone. Then you do a fuel filter chage, prime your system to get rid of air, and you're good to go.

I've tried the process in my previous BJ74 with good success, and Sheldon and Greg also report good success with this product. Not sure if you can get it where you are or not.
