Here I'm trying to digest some excellent tri tip steak, and to get off my stupor I'm going to consult the collective:
I'm getting a new pair of leaves made at Alcan, SOA this time and Tom advised me that 2x military wrap (at ea/end) is NOT advisable due to binding when flexed. I thought OME came that way already, standard. Please set me straight if it's not so, or if you have had it (wrap at both ends) and know better...
Thanks

OME are single mil-wrap, assuming your not considering the mainleaf as a wrap.

The only double mil wrapped springs I've ever seen were on a er, ah, military vehicle. It was a Korean war vintage Mash ambulance truck. Both ends of both the front and rear spring packs had the wrap on both the first and second leaves.

I;ve seen mil-wraps on... military rigs... and some other heavy duty setups.

A correct mil-wrap is an oval, not a circle and it will be wide/long enough that it doesn't bind as the leafs move in relation to each other.

Mark...

yap at both ends ..

In my case are not a problem .. I read in one 4WOR mag that the wrap issue comes from for SO stups have better function if the wrap comes up to down ..
