My local tire/allignment shop broke what they describe as a ball/socket joint this morning when they were attempting to allign my 62. I believe this is a tie-rod end at the end of the drag link. They have ordered the part from Toyota, and it will be here tomorrow. (Yeah, right!)

Should I pay or should the shop pay for the broken part and labor. I have bought about 10 sets of tires from them over the years, and have trusted them with all things allignment, brakes, etc.

Thoughts?

Perhaps not pay in full...you buy the part, they install free. That's about as charitable as I could be.

Id expect something at least installation from them as they did break it. But those things do happen so as long as they try to make it right its no big deal.

Thanks to all. Good advice! I will play nice when presented with the bill.

IMHO i would say if the rod end was really old, that stuff happens and could have happened to anyone. Like said above, at least they can install it for free since it's really not that hard.

Sage advice from Pumpkintown! Thanks
