I wouldn't stress this since frames & tubs are commonly swapped in antique auto restoration- now some states like CA / NY may have strict frame ID policy but I've never had he DMV look for a frame tag... they ask for vin tag on door and will title with that. My frame is 70 & body is 74...titled as 74
You don't want to confuse the dmv or give them any reason to issue you a 'salvage title' that is what they would do...you don't want a salvage title attached to your rig if you plan to sink serious money into it

Toyota kept it simple with just one VIN stamped on the FJ40 frame. Newer vehicles like the 80, 100, trucks, 4Runner, etc., have “hidden” VINs on the vehicle known to a select few like law enforcement, VIN verifiers, etc.

CT did not look at the frame (which is good because I had to do a frame swap). On my other truck CA did look at the frame and the dmv was a pain... they claimed whoever painted the frame (me) used too much paint and that it looked like FI40XXXXXX

I had to prove to her that FI40 doesn't exist.
