Anchorage, Alaska...I love it here...you boys (and girls) should come for a visit, it's beautiful.

I've been working my way up the Land Cruiser models and now have a '95 80 locked and loaded. Goes nice with my '82 40. In Alaska you need something reliable, something that will always start and can drive through anything...thus the 80 series.

My first contact with cruisers was in the 70s a friend of mine got a brand new FJ40 1974 and we did a trip around the (Venezuela) country that same summer.
My first cruiser was a 1985 FJ60, a real tank, and just two months ago I got a 1994 w/Factory lockers FZJ80. Currently working on taking care all the 80's trouble areas .

I'm a 4th year at the Medical University of South Carolina. I've only got 2 more months!! I'll be starting a general surgery residency somewhere in the southeast in July. I won't know where until the match in March, hopefully in a place where the wheeling is better than Charleston.

Married - She has grown to tolerate my cruiser addiction.

No kids yet, just a big German shepherd.

I've always loved Toyota vehicles. My last ride was a Tacoma. I upgraded after aquiring the wife and dog. This forum has definitely made my life a lot easier.

Getting my Masters Degree in Computer Engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology (not military though) here in Ohio. No wife or kids Just 3 Toyotas at the moment, but my 88 4Runner must be sold (eventhough it was my 1st vehicle 9 years ago) After getting stuck in 4wd in about a foot of snow in the mountains of Montana and watching half the tires spin I knew my next truck had to have lockers - thats where they 80 comes in At least I carry the right gear to get me out (shovel and metal skid grates). And for the non-offroad adventures (twisties) I have an 89 Supra turbo. Now I just have to find a job when I'm done with school to keep my babys running well.

I bought my FJZ80 yesterday, after having 2 '93 4runners and an '87 toy pickup.
I had 2 Jeep Cherokees, and while I won't knock their engine/transmission, I can't say much else, if i follow the adage "If you cant say anything nice....."

I don't post much either, but I enjoy learning from others.

I have owned 5 Land Cruisers. Fell in love first with the 40. Still have an '81 back east. The 80 is very unique in the market: Toyota reliability, great looks, comfortable, safe, versatile. As soon as I saw how the '93 was packaged, I was all over it: put 70k on that and traded it for a '96. I have used my '96 for work since it came off the showroom floor. I now have a combined 236k on 2 80's under my belt. NOT ONCE have I ever been scarred while driving all those miles. Can't say that about anything else in my experience. No breakdowns either. An '04 Tundra is my daily driver now. The 80 series cruiser is one of the best machines built by man.

Married for 13 years to a great wife named Kelly and together we have a wonderful 7 year old daughter named Shelby.

I am currently unemployed after being bought out of 2 different businesses within the last year. I Can't retire, so I play Landcruiser during the day and Daddy at night.

My first Landcruiser I bought new. It was an 84 Fj60, then another new one in 87, then bought my friends 83 FJ40 and his 65 FJ45 pickup in 1989, and then a used 89 in 98. I then imported a sweet HJ61 from Japan, I bought my wife an 97 80 series which started a whole new Landcruiser phase in Landcruiser life. Currently I am building an FZJ45 and ensuring my destiny of being a LC junkie.

This is a long interesting thread. So many people w/ so many different backgrounds.

As for me I am 24 going to be 25 this year in June. I went to San Diego State Univ for business. I have been in the financial industry for sometime. I currently am working w/ Wells Fargo Bank. I don't really enjoy my work as much now as I did before in the past but I do love that my commute is just 1-2 min. away from my apt walking. I live in sunny southern california but wouldn't mind moving somewhere out of state just for the experience. I have lived in LA my whole life. I bought my 97 40th edition in 2001. I have enjoyed the truck ever since and have grown to love cruisers. I would love to get ahold of a 55 series and 70 series. Those are next on my trucks to get.

recently turned 32, feel like 16, sometimes like 60.
spent 4 years as an avionics tech for the navy, got out and worked as a carpenter, spent another 3 years in the navy seabees, recently got out and now work for the local utility company as an apprentice mechanic. try to work on my degree in my spare time, going for a BA in middle eastern studies.

bought the 73 fj40 first. loved it. recently bought the 94 fzj80. love it more.

Hanging out with the wrong crowd can surely ruin college hopes as it did me. I fell 2 years short at U of Akron and haven't finished yet.

I am currently a mainframe operator for Liebert Corporation.

I practically stole my 80! My mother-in-law sold it to me for 10K after she got an X5. Not bad Huh? My wife drives it 90% of the time while I drive a 91 Nissan Stanza POS.

I'd like to thank everyone for providing me plenty of reading material and all the great ideas for spending my money.

42, I run Oregon and SW Washington for a Phone and Data provider, if anyone needs service (business only, t1-oc192 shoot me a PM) Wife has been around since the mid 80's a daughter showed up in 97 and a son in 99. I've awlays loved LC and bought my 80 18 months ago 35k (117K) later I still love it, locked and bling'd (gold package). I'm thinking about getting a 100 because I've been driving more than expected and what to get a boat. I run synth, had teh front end service done and the PHH replaced. I'm sure it will go another 150K without much drama.

Next Cruiser - currently looking for 98-2000.

My name is Mike, 30, happily married with 2 kids. Computer geek, found this forum a few months ago, and have browsed them this morning from 3am to 6am... good site. Recent love of the landcruiser type vehicle. 2001, purchased my 97 40th FZJ80, 2003 Purchased a 76 FJ40, 2005 Purchased a 1969 Iron Pig. That makes 3 of 70 cars I've had since I was 16. Firm believer of using what you own... and that the landcruiser vehicle belongs in the wild in its natural habitat. (see www.toyotatrucks.net to see what I mean).

Looking to join a club here in Seattle and wheel. Firm believer that the last good cruiser is the 97', but have an open mind and being a newb find this site to be a good resource to either back my gut feeling or replace it.

Wanted a durable, solid, off road capable, 4wd SUV to replace my truck. Have owned heeps in the past and did not want one again. Not a big fan of american vehicle durability. Like the looks of rovers, but looked at a few and researched the heck out of them and decided they aren't for me. Ran into the Land Cruiser and fell in love. Figure with a history like use by the UN, folks in the austrailan outback, the african deserts and serious duty commercial operations, it ought to be a good solid vehicle.

This '96 is my first Toyota. It has 177K and I hope to have it when it rolls 500.

I think sites like this are the best, in the past belonging to places like this have been terriffic - you get to know a great group with similar interests, be helped and help others and learn a lot. Plus save a ton of money on do-it-yourself work.

Growing up my dad had a 77' cruiser and I have loved them ever since. Bought a 95' 4runner after college and put 165k miles on it. Did some moderate, but very fun 4wheelin in the Pacific Northwest. I always said when I got a family I would move up to an 80 and in December 04' I found my 96' in Portland, Oregon with 77k. It was definitely worth the drive which took about 4 hours each way. Once I found this forum I have been hooked on it ever since.

Other than my family and car hobbies my main focus in life is my faith in God.
