I wish they had the 12k with synthetic rope and a Hawse.

I don't know if you placed your order with Metal Tech, but if you're still interested, be sure to call them.

I know they used to sell the Engo 12K Synth, because I bought one from them last summer to go on my MT front bumper. They had the best pricing on that model I could find, and I was already ordering a bumper, so it was a good deal all around.

I've only needed the winch twice, but worked like a champ both times.

Unless I am looking at a different 12k model they are not offered in the US. Talked to the Ergo Rep in Oregon and he is bringing one in. Sorry I don't know the model other than a 12k synthetic. Difference could be water proff vs. not?

If you will use your winch fairly often, will have a fully equipped rig, at times loaded for camping and will be in muddy conditions and never want to worry about getting out of any situation, get the M12000. When I lived in South America, everyone ran the 10k, 12k or the 8274 w/ a modded arb bumper (slow but extremely reliable) My 12000 has been put through the ringer in Venezuela, Guatemala, Costa Rica and other excursions here stateside. Never an issue.

Can't go wrong with the M12000

I have engo 12k. Its been great. Originally I had a metal cable on it but was pulling uphill by myself and all cable wound on one side of cage resulting in a busted cage. It still got me 3 more full pulls and out of a bad situation. So I called engo USA and the guy sent me all new parts for FREE right away. Amazing customer service. That's worth all the $ right there. I swapped out the cable for a 3/8 amsteel synthetic.
I am sure the warn is better but on a budget you can't beat the engo and their service.

Thanks Guy's, all very helpful. I just need to get off my Butt and buy something before I get stuck in a Muddy Ditch.

Are any of you running Dual Batteries? I hear a lot of different opinions on keeping the second battery for just starting vs. balancing the load for winches, stereos, CB's etc.

Thought's?

A note on my Engo (full exposure, as I can't put the cover on it-too tight in the bumper) is that much the exterior stainless bits are rusting after less than a year. Hasn't affected performance as of yet. Don't mind my "temp" wiring on my KC's...

If you go with an M12, you'll most definitely need dual batts to keep up with the draw if you actually use it to its pulling potential.

And yes, that means connecting both batteries so they share the load.

My secondary battery remains isolated except for charging or whenever the demand for more juice is required (winching, jump starting, auxiliary lighting and emergency self starting)

Or keep the motor running!

So what about that little rust. My tmax has that rust on it for over 5 years and it still works great!

An M12 (or any winch for that matter) will draw more than our charging system can deliver

Remember, the factory alternators are only 80amp, so when making a pull, it is very dependent on the battery itself, not just the charging system :meh:

You may be able to get away with one good battery for short pulls, but try pushing the load/duration and you'll eventually end up smoking the battery while overworking the alternator

My 12k hf winch is slow but pulls very hard. Last weekend it was under water a few times and wprked perfectly when I needed it

I ended up buying the Warn M1200 with remote control. The only winch that bolts up directly with the ARB. Putting the control box in the engine bay and the remote in the cab. When the cable craps out like my wife's TJ did last week I will replace with Poly and get rid of the Fairlead. Her's lasted 10 years of medium duty
