Or rather Which transfer case i guess the question should be.

I have a July 1985 FJ60 with a transfer case that has the 34mm idler shaft in it.

which one of these two do I buy?

33130-F4
for 16 spline 4 speed transfer-case
$208.65
33130-81
for 19 spline 4 speed transfer-case
$208.65

these are the Downey 4X4 reluctor ring kits for the V-8 swaps

TTT

I'm in the same boat, Rover. Does anyone know how many splines are on the early model FJ60 transfer case? later model?

All the 60s are 19 spline. Look for all the options before going that route.

What are the CARB legal options? In California, the smog equipment must be OEM or have a certified CARB # to be legal.

The Downey reluctor ring seems like a quick solution.

Other options?

I think Landwagon is right

I think you have to go with the 33130-81 if your vehicle was stock prior to the conversion.

Djawahir Im VERY curious about your swap and hope yah pass smog here in CA.
If you do, that means the wife will get the current project and I'll go for a second FJ60 H55 Conversion:bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce:
Keep us posted..

The Sensor that Downey and AA are both OEM parts. The location of said part does not disqualify you under Ca. Emissions. So get after it guys. And correctt on the -81 Just make sure you let Downey know it is for a 60. They have a slotted bolt hole for ours.

I'm still gathering up my parts for the swap. I got off the phone with Jim at Downey earlier and he said the 33130-81 is the part we need. I ordered it today. Supposedly, since the VSS is the one used by GM in their vehicles, it checks out good for the smog guys. The reluctor ring is to create the signal necessary to talk to the computer properly. This setup should be fine for smog.

Hey Frank, I'm gettin' on it! I see you've been getting your stuff going...I've just been going at mine slowly. I'll have a really detailed writeup soon. I've been taking pics and everything. It's just that work is taking up a lot of my time lately. I mean like from 8am to midnight. I guess it's good I get paid hourly...
