Hi,

Can anyone somehow supply a list for all Landcruisers (engines, models, transmission variants) supplied with the factory mechanical winch?
How can I tell if a landcruiser has the mechanical winch - even though the winch is not fitted? Something special to look for unless looking underneath the car?
Was it only the J4 who had this option? What about J5, J6 and so on?

FJ40s, 55s, and non-US FJ60s had PTO winches. FJ40s thru 1976. Hard to fully answer your question, but there is both the winch head on the front of the truck (between the frame rails), a driveshaft leading back, and a subtransmission bolted to the side of the transfer case. Look at some of the diagrams on SOR.com and use 'PTO winch' as your search term.

lever in the cab or maybe a patch over where it would be, but they all had a PTO lever.

So no J4 diesels had a mechanical winch?

They certainly could have had a Toyota Land Cruiser PTO winch from the factory or a dealer installed option...
