Getting ready to start on a Center Arm rebuild on my '82 40, and through my searching, I haven't figured out which type of grease to use during reassembly. On hand, I have some generic Napa White Lithium grease, and then left over from my front axle rebuild, I have some Wheel Bearing grease and some Moly grease. Just looking to see what everyone thinks would be best?

From what I have read, the most fun part about this rebuild will be getting the center arm pivot shaft seperated from the arm.

I am using a rebuild kit from Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters and instructions from Coolerman's site (which is a great how-to reference guide to a lot of these types of tasks, BTW): Center Arm Rebuild

Thanks in advance, and wish me luck.

I believe any of those greases will be fine.

I've pumped both moly and standard grease into mine.

(Lately I've just been using standard grease - same as I use in my drive shaft universal joints.)

Good deal, thanks. I ended up going with the white lithium grease. Rebuild process was actually easier than I anticipated. Getting the center arm pivot shaft seperated from the arm, not so fun. Mangled a pickle fork, broke a cheap Harbor Freight pitman arm puller, and only once I applied heat from a propane torch with another pitman arm puller did it seperate.

The rebuild definitely helped to clean up some steering slop.

Brett, see you over at Dom's next Sunday.

Thanks again guys.
