Replacing rear springs and adding 30mm spacers on my LX 470. Having airbags added at same time, since we've got it all apart.

Any suggestions on which kit I need? Thought they were blue, but guess they want to look like Firestone now.

Edit: Guess I'll be measuring new springs, though not sure how much compression to expect with them, vs what's on truck now.
Introducing Air Lift 1000 Universal Air Spring Kits

Thanks...

Measuring and comparing the unloaded spring heights won't get you the right measurement. Spring have different spring rates that make their unloaded height an inaccurate measure of loaded height.

The Airlift kit for the OEM springs is 60728. If you are not using new OEM, the springs you have should have come with a designed lift (loaded) in mind. Are the old springs still on the truck to get a loaded height measurement? The loaded height comparisons might provide an estimate of the measurements needed for determining if a different Airlift kit is needed. Otherwise, just get the 60728.

Thanks, appreciate the info. I think I'm going to skip the bags for now and get the new OEM springs/30MM spacers baselined. Not towing that much with the 100 any longer, but the info is good to have on Mud.

Last time I looked at air bags the Firestone 4124s seemed to be right. Do you need measurements from the bottom of a 30mm spacer to the coils' perch for stock height? I can help there. Don't forget that the height sensor sets height, so regardless of installing new coils or old coils the only difference in the internal height of the coil to perch will be the spacer. Does that make sense?

Sounds like a plan. Since you are going with OEM springs, I think the Airlift kit mentioned above would work fine if you decide to do that.

I purchased the Air Lift 60728 kit for my stock springs. I also have a 30mm spacer at the top of the spring. Do you think this will be a problem? Should I buy the longer airbag instead? Thanks

Those air lift 1000s will work fine I believe. They are listed as 1 inch longer (at 8.5 inches) than the 4124s (7.5) but air lift say to remove the complete bump cone, whereas Firestone say to cut the bump cone down to the one segment. The important dimension is the distance between lower perch and the bump cone mount for your air lifts and on an LX at 21.5 inches axle center to fender bottom in N it's about 8.5 inches. I guess if you want to run your height above stockish you might consider a longer bag?

Since the spacer is outside the spring, I think the 60728 will be fine.

Thanks for the feedback. I should clarify that I have a land cruiser with 30mm spacers. I was planning on removing the bump stops per the instructions. Should I cut them down instead?

If going with the Airlift, I would remove the bumpstops, per the instructions. However, I'm not sure how all that works with the 30mm spacers installed. The Airlift need all the space available inside the coil, hence removal of the bumpstops.

To finish this thread...

I purchased the airlift kit 60728 for my stock springs and 30mm spacer. I ended up cutting/shortening the bump stop that resides inside the spring to 1" tall. There is an indention at exactly 1" where I cut. This basically gave a stock length. It works great! I towed my camper in style with only 15 psi and had no sagging and no tow hop.

Love my bags. I use Air Lift 1000 60728 which fit perfectly in the LX470 springs. Make sure you give them plenty of slack to fully flex out.
