Couldn't find it, so I guess I'll start another one...until someone calls repost and provides a link.;)

So I started working on this FJ60 today, and needed to swap fuel lines to play with a different carb on the motor [putting a modified F carb on the 2F]

When I went to separate the fuel line from the fuel pump to run a hose over to the test carb, I found that the hose had a splice in it.

The World of Discovery

While we all are proud of American ingenuity, I sometimes wonder about American intelligence. I think it's very generous to call all these screwy repairs "field-fixes."

Reminds me of twenty years ago getting a call to help out our very small town water company when all sixty households suddenly went dry. Met up with the old timers in a neighbor's backyard by a large tree. Oddly, they asked me if I had a spare radiator hose.

When I looked down in the hole where the 2-inch main line had broken from the tree roots, there was a rotted old radiator hose with rusted clamps some genius had used long ago to get around the roots to connect the metal pipes. And now they wanted to repeat the process, and bury it all over again! Sixty homes, ten fire-hydrants, and the local school all got their water from that line.

Well, I never told my insurance company, and later fought to get a proper six-inch line through the neighborhood. But I later quit helping them when they decided to use the new line to cross-connect and energize the old aging and leaking lines feeding each home.

It's like our money says, "In God we trust," since I sure don't trust some of the geniuses out there doing field-fixes that never get corrected back at home!

Thanks for the idea, now I MUST have a BIC pencil in my trail tool bag. Can you provide the color of the pencil so I have the right one
