Hi Guys,

I haven't had rotors turned in years so I don't know where to go, can anyone recommend a shop in north county and give me a rough estimate on cost?

Back story: Oem rotors and 100 series pads with about 5000 miles on them. Even with shim removed the 100 series pads were a very tight fit and that has lead to poor pad deposition on the rotors and vibration/shudder under braking. I don't want to just toss the rotors, turning them should fix the problem. Thinking of replacing the 100 series pads with the 80 series EBC green stuff pads after they are turned.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ross

Did you replace the rotors when you went to 100 series pads? If not, that could be some of your problem. 100 series pads are a very tight fit w/o the 80 series shims to begin with.

any auto machine shop or independent brake shop will have a brake lathe and be able to turn the rotors. Just google 'Carlsbad auto machine shop' brings up a lot of options. Maybe someone else has a specific business reference. Be prepared to pay more than it is worth as there is little $$ to be made with such a small job.

New rotors and new 100 series pads went on at the same time. I was concerned with the fit when I put them on so I was not surprised that I ended up with poor pad deposition.

I'll call around to the brake shops, most of the local machine shops around here seem to be prototypers not auto machine shops. I've used Kenyon's for engine work but its a hike form here.

Thanks for the heads up. Rockauto was clearing out brembo OE replacements for $30 so I picked up a pair of those. I have had good luck with the bremobo oe replacements on our 4Runner so we'll see how they work out on the cruiser. After I switch them out I'll get the OEM rotors turned and put them on the shelf until I need them.

I had the stock rotors turned, and used the DP6992 (I think?) EBC pads and its 100x better than the stock pads which were also giving me brake shudder. You'll like the EBC pads. I bought my set from ebay for cheap! real thing showed and they work great.
