I just scored a set of 17" Tundra / Sequoia wheels for $100. I see a few guys on here are running the 35x12.5x17 Cooper STT's on these rims. Where did you guys get them or any suggestions on cheaper tires of the same size. The cheapest out the door price I can find is from discount tire direct, and they still ring in at $275 a piece, ouch. Is it just me or have tires prices gone up considerably the past few months?

Hit up EGR80 on MUD- he runs 35" Coopers. He may have an idea or two on price.

cstamm81,
Great score on the tundra rims.
I bought five tires but cant find my receipt to tell you exactly how much a piece. I think they were around $260 from Freeman Tire our local Cooper distributor.
There are a few running Destination MTs on here that like them. I think they came out with a 315 70r17 recently and are a little less expensive.

ETA: just saw this thread on the Firestones. https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-...uys-think-about-firestone-destination-mt.html

I thought the 17" Tundra rims were only 7.5" wide... don't you need minimum 8" to go to a 12.5" wide tire? This is what I read a while back, I really like the 17" Tundra wheels but gave them up because someone said that the rim wouldn't be wide enough to run the 12.5" tires I wanted.

I heard a 7" wide might cause wear issues but haven't had any problems or heard of any with 7.5 wheels.

I will check out the Firestones thanks for the tip. The only issue as far as I know with running a little thinner than recommended rim is that the center of the tire will wear a little quicker. You can adjust tire pressure to compensate. There are lots of guys who run 12.50 tires on 7" wide rims with no problems.
Bomar, good find on the ebay Coopers, how do I get $200 back from live.com ??

Bomar, huge thanks on the live.com heads up. I got an email from ebay this morning with a 10% off coupon plus the live.com instructions. The details were kind of a pita but it looks like it worked. The coupon took the out the door price to $925. My cashback bonus from live.com will then be $200, but I have to wait about 60 days to redeem it.

I would stay away form the firestones if you do alot of serious wheeling. I had a set out this weekend on my first real rough wheeling trip at mayhem ORV park and wasn't real impressed. We had a few light showers and when the dirt turned to mud they didn't clean out at all and i had trouble on some slick hills.
