here is a pic of a 60 series in South America. Just wondering if anyone has seen an overhead console in the states like this?

Any chance a junk yard center console would work? I think I remember someone using one from an 80 or somethign else???? Been awhile since it was poisted up (maybe b/f you registered here?), but there was somethign if I remember right.

Sorry I dont have more details. I will see if I can find anything else.

Edit:

Pic now works and that pic isnt of a Aus cruiser its LHD.

It seems like you might be able to finda junkyard one that would attach well. Anybody have any ideas on how it would attach? I know that there are two levels to the roof could you just tap it through?

if you have the $ anything is possible.

One Thing to consider - Headliner. Not cheap to fix and this would affect that as well as how it attaches.

exiled will know, he had one. I'll pm him the link to this thread.

Makes me think twice about installing my CB in the dash, when I think it really wants to live overhead, so I can really feel like Jack Burton in Big Trouble in Little China when I call out my handle.

The one I had on the Princess was from Interior 4WD, an Australian company. It's a great product, very practical and easy to install. The only caveat is that the Australian $ is a lot stronger vs. the US $ than it was when I bought mine, and shipping rates have also gone up considerably (I got mine in 2003). It will be an expensive option.

I thought this one could come from Venezuela ..

you are correct sir. it is on a 60 series from Venezuela.

any chance you know how to get your hands on one?

Hi Clint ..

It could be simple to me .. coz have good friends in Caracas, Venezuela to buy it .. and someone can bring it to me here in Panamá ( we are close and pretty much persons traffic this days between Venezuela and Panamá ) but not sure about the cost to put it in USA ..

Hey Clint,

I was looking for these myself, a while back. Another option is a custom or semi-custom console. There are companies that make after market consoles to fit a variety of vehicles including 60 series cruisers.

I no longer have the computer that had the website link that I specifically remember, but I know they exist. There are a variety of options for covering, and storage/CB/head unit placement.

Cheers.

Hey Goat!!

Hope you and your family had a great christmas!

I have not seen that site before but good stuff.

Here is one I found before but again it is Austrailia:crybaby:

Department of the Interior Car Consoles & 4WD Storage Drawers overhead consoles roof consoles custom built consoles 4WD interiors dashboard restorations storage systems vehicle consoles radio console dashboard repairs dashboard pod four wheel drive

Price and shipping is totally cost prohibitive though.

Tapage: I am sure you are busy but in your spare time if you could find out for me I would really appreciate it. :bounce:

I too wanted one of these consolses. 4wd Interiors is australia manufactures overhead consoles, unfortnately they are not manufacturing consoles for the 60 series anymore. I contacted them last month, i was rather dissapointed.

I am not sure how true to Toyota you are looking to be or what your goals are exactly for the console, but maybe a junkyard. Many cars and trucks have them from the factory, like (dare I say) the Heep GC. No Cb mount (you could mount it like Locksmith or in the dash), but everything else is there. You could find one really cheap I am sure, and with a fairly good color match depending on you interior. Just my .02
