Where to buy snap rings for a w56???

I lost a snap ring to my 85 w56 tranny ...... GRRRRR

Anyone know where to purchase one or anyone have a gernaded tranny I can get one from???

I'd give Marlin Crawler a call, or anyone that deals with Toyota Transmissions... THey'll surely have a boat anchor of a trans hanging around they could steal out of...

Yes I called marlin along with a few other online tranny parts places with no luck. The guy said damn that's strange ..... I don't even see a small parts listing got that. ...... REALLY !!!!

you definitely should get oem.
the problem is you cant just get "a snap ring"
depending on which snap ring you are refering too, they are machined to exacting thicknesses and are used to set the end play in the gears.

since you dont have the old one to go by, you might have to assemble the whole thing and then measure with a micrometer what size you need to bring end play into specs.

W56 tranny bearings finally completed

Yup, should have taken pics but when its my first tear down on one I just went ahead and did it. Not bad to do but will say putting the cases back together cought me off gaurd. You need to do several dry fits then put the finnal assembly to it. I thought I had it whipped UNTIL my third break down cus of hanging shifter rods.

Test ride was GREAT ...... no WHINING in any gears and dont have to turn radio up when running fifth gear, lol Other folks know the drill on turning up the radio , hahaha.

And thanks to all the folks who helped me out and lineing up tech articles and fsm stuff.
