I've got a bad compressor bearing and maybe clutch. The bad bearing sound was pretty pronounced and after removing the belt the pulley has a lot of back and forth play to it. Looks like I'm going to at least have to replace the bearing and probably the clutch too. So, where do I source these parts? Since it's the AC system I figured Beno wouldn't have them, correct?

Just FYI before someone suggest it I replaced the AC tensioner bearing about a yr ago but checked it just make sure and it was good. Sound went away after pulling the belt but when I spun the compressor pulley it has some small grinding and sound to it not to mention the play.

Any help is much appreciated.

Look up Coolstream, he is a Mud member and vendor. He advertises in the Small business storefront forum. His website is www.coolstreamac.com

I've delt with him in the past and have been very pleased.

The person who worked at Coolstream a few years ago who used to post on Mud is no longer there, I forget his personal user name or where he went. Any of the Mud vendors including Beno would have all the AC parts. If money is tight you can save a few bucks getting a new Denso compressor from RockAuto or a used compressor from a salvage yard or the classifieds parting out section.

Interesting. I hadn't heard this. The coolstream website still has a Mud specific section and Coolstreams Mud user account has had recent activity. Nevertheless, Onur and Dan are fantastic resources as well.

To clarify; there is a new coolstream employee who apparently now uses the coolstream user name and rarely posts, but he is not the same person who used it a few years ago. AFAIK

Appreciate the responses. My air still blows cold and I don't have any leaks so hopefully I can get by with changing out the bearings and/or clutch. I don't know why I thought Beno wouldn't have them. I'll shoot him a message since he's been great pricing and sourcing me parts (even when I didn't order them).

Again, many thanks.

Thanks for the clarification Kernal.

The guy who worked at Coolsream is Rex Scofield. He had a fall out with Coolstream and is now at another AC shop in AZ. He's a stand up guy and I give him all my AC business. He's a mudder, super cool and eager to help. His work # 520-690-0922.

Regards...

Rex, that's it,, needed the memory jogger. Helped me also with some AC questions.

Hi everybody! Thanks for the nice recommendations! Yep, still here, although I haven't been on here as much lately as I've spent the last 6 months rebuilding my engine. I'm still in the parts business, now with Merle's Auto Supply here in Tucson. I'll be happy to help with your A/C questions and get you a quote on needed parts. The people at my former employer are not LC owners or enthusiasts, they are simply continuing what I started. You can reach me @ 520-690-0922 or email rexscofield@cox.net or PM me here on MUD.

On a separate note, here's a pic of where my attention has been...

Glad to see you're still around. Nice looking engine.

Very sweet ! You do good work Grasshopper.....

I'll be calling you tomorrow! Many thanks!

Wanted to add that even though it was a small order Rex still treated me like a priority and was very helpful. Received my parts quickly and look forward to a cool cruiser again.
