I need to replace the struts on my trailer. Since I have added the RTT the struts don't have the power to lift the lid. Where are you guys finding struts and what are you using?

Thanks!

I bought all my stuff here. Great site, everything you need to put a lid on a trailer all in one place: hinges, latches, struts.

Allegis Corporation

Just call them with the products numbers and pay with a credit card.

gaberelli,
Thanks for the Allegis link. Great selection of stuff I might need.

Some of the threads I've read on gas struts used with trailer lids, etc have cited parts from McMaster Carr: McMaster-Carr
They don't always have the best price, but their catalog is a great sources for hardware ideas and solutions.

True. McMaster Carr has EVERYTHING you might need. Allegis just happened to have what I needed. Arrived next day too!

This is the same place I got my struts and hinges. They are local to me here in the Dallas area. I just installed my RTT and going to need some bigger struts here shortly. If you look on the label of the struts from Allegis there is a direct number to order from. I think I'll go from there and see if I can save some money? May not be worth it with shipping? But Allegis has a lot of stuff Mcmaster-Carr looks good as well.

Thanks for posting the link!

I bought both my sets from Napa auto parts in town. Wide selection and real cheap. Maybe try them if you have one locally.

We are lucky in Vancouver BC area to have a guy that JUST does struts.
StrutWise sells, repairs, refurnbishes, custom designs gas struts in US,Canada, worldwide.
When I was setting up my M101 w/ lid and RTT I was trying to work out what I needed from Mcmaster Carr..but it seemed a real crap shoot to get the right struts in time for Pismo. So I took the M101/Lid/RTT to Frank at Strutwise and he measured up what I needed and charged the struts according to the actual weight involved and had all the misc hardware in house to fit em up. IIRC it was $170 for 2x Struts and all the mount plates etc.
So if anyone is GVRD area needing strut work.. highly recommend Strutwise, Frank even rebuilds factory tailgate and hood struts.
