I just bought an 08 GX in mint condition with 87K and the bags are leaking (documented in the Lexus service history). I keep reading about $170 bags that people have bought on the forums. Is there a specific brand I should look for/avoid? I called Sewell Lexus, Dallas and they want $833 for the OEM pair. Yikes! I will do a MetalTech conversion before I pay that much for replacement bags.

Thanks,
Cole

Thanks, but I will just go back with new units. I have been looking at the Arnott bags on Amazon this morning for much less. I am really just hoping that a successful bag swap and 100% functioning suspension will help me fight the urge to lift for a while longer. I typically can't leave well enough alone lol.

I got mine at Camelback Toyota, the price was reasonable. The GX still rides like crap though.

My spring conversion rides better than my bags ever did. Don't put that crap back on there.

I would buy the Metal Tech spring conversion kit ...
And get some stock springs from a 4runner or fjc and run that till your ready to lift ...
Then you'll already have the spring conversion kit done
^^THIS^^

Resist the urge to install replacement air bags! Most agree that these trucks didn't ride that good when new, and it's about 95% due to the rear "air springs." If you change to coils with decent shocks, you will be astounded at how much better it will ride.........When my wife's stock bags went out, I changed to stock ride height springs, and when I bought the one I have now, I put a completely new lift suspension on it, so I've seen the rear spring conversion from both sides. Trust me and the posts above: regardless of whether you intend to lift it now or in the future, go with replacement coils

Thanks for the replies guys. I went ahead and just go the Arnott bags on Amazon. I just couldn't pull the trigger while I still had dealer tags and was on my first tank of gas. I am going to drive it a while and make sure it is a vehicle I want to keep for a long time before I do anything that might jeopardize the resale to some yuppie here in Dallas. Once I am convinced I want to drive it 250k, it will be lifted and modified like every other thing I have ever owned lol.

I'd consider it a positive if you try and sell it. You'd of already taken care of a potentially costly repair that will never fail again, have a better ride, and do so at a cost less than bag replacement.
