Hello All,

I bought a spare key blade blank for our 200 LC about 2 weeks ago from BENO and my local Toyota Dealer here acts like a bunch of :censor: when I walk in and tell them I need the key cut for my LC.... the parts guy says " You can't get a blank key for that car, they only come cut to match the VIN and the vehicle", at which point I showed him my brand new in Toyota package Key Blank.....

He then stated that I might as well return it because they only come cut to work.

I have one blade key that has the correct master pattern on it, and I was wanting a second one to use as an emergency spare key.

Does anyone here know how/where I can get this cut and how much $$$ it will cost?

Try another dealer

Where are you located?

Please give me an email or call and I can try to assist you.

Next time, when you get an answer like that, ask to talk with the Parts Manager abou the situation and I am sure that the demeanor will change.

That said, Toyota does now require the following for cutting keys: proof of ownership (title, state registration) that matches the picture ID of the person at the counter. That is a minimum for Toyota dealerships these days.

Hey BENO!!!

I want to thank You for all of the parts and great service You gave!

I know the local Toyota Dealer here is full of A-holes, and it is a shame..... So, I will give You a call tomorrow and see what we can do on this..

Thanks again!
